| I would have described the atmosphere at the game as good, if we had a good game of football to go with it it could have been excellent, I thought that Rovers came down for a draw but with no early goal from us it made it a bit dour, not all games are classics. |

Another one.... this is Swansea at Cardiff another fierce rivalry and yet only 5 or 6 rows of segregation, and yet even for the bigger games at HP the gap is about 3 blocks wide FFS or in other words about 1,500 fans locked out. I agree that it certainly doesn't look good on the tv. But when you refer to "the bigger games" and "1,500 fans locked out", you actually are also reinforcing the point that we rarely do get games big enough for fans to be locked out. If we do get big matches - like drawing Man U in the FA Cup - I guess the arrangements would change. At the Cherry Tree we were given the figures, that I can't recall, about how much it costs to hire a police-officer and it was a surprising amount. Equally we were told that the club has no say about how many police would be needed - Argyle are simply told "There will be X number of police. Pay up." Coming from an era when the Devonport was the part of the ground that was a heaving mass of testosterone, I can't get worked up about the loss of the Zoo Corner. It has moved in the past. It will move in the future. 'C'est la vie, as they say in Cornwall. The forza verde experiment seems to have died a death. I think I even read recently that the big flag couldn't be found. Our crowd seems to have held up remarkably well in the circumstances but loud and dominating it certainly ain't. |

| I just had a brief look at the Brief Synopsis thread over at Pyongyang. There are some seriously frustrated wannabe hacks over there. It must be pretty tiring having to try and over-analyse every aspect of a game so you can put your two penneth in on that thread every week. Gotta love Cobi and his primary school ratings system tho. A pretty shit game like that and he still manages to rate four Argyle players at 9/10. |

| Poor old Cobi must have been somewhere else The highlight of the day for me was early in the second half, a usually quiet fan jumped to his feet and shouted loudly "ffs Sheridan, sign a player, any player will do" with his hands out in front of him in total exasperation. Made I laugh:lol: |

| I was in Ashburton the other day, Mr Blight, wasn't sure what pub to go to so walked up to the Victoria. Snack food OK - damn fine burger - but beer nothing special. Where should I have gone?
PS I think Cobi is usually somewhere else. |

I almost went in there but it looked a bit chicken-in-a-basketty. And as for cider.... [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]I've tried, I really have, but I haven't yet found one that I want to buy again. We sell three sorts at The Chapel - all from Cornish Orchards but no thank you. Real ale man me (that and wooly jumpers and jazz). |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] One of them is that fat tw@t with a beard who gets thrown out on a regular basis but it's never his fault. He was pictured at Exeter a couple of years ago with the Burberry brigade in his Argyle shirt |

PS I think Cobi is usually somewhere else. Knecht, the Victoria is my local. The beer is usually excellent. Jail Ale on tap the Otter Ale is very good and the other real ale is usually another Otter ( Otter Best or Otter Amber) or occasionally a guest ale. The Vic is getting a good reputation for food. Apparently Shane's ( landlord) pies are to die for, particularly the Steak & Ale. ( Must try one soon) The Bay Horse has recently been taken over. I've not been in there for a while, it usually attracts the younger drinkers. The Exeter Inn is ok for beer, I don't know about their food. It's a waiting room for the excellent Indian a couple of doors along. Order your curry for an hours time while having one or two in the Exeter. The Royal Oak is ok, nothing special and The Silent Whistle is the Sky pub for the town but I haven't been in there for ages. IMO the Victoria is definitely the best. Nice community atmosphere up here, the missus won't leave here now. That free advert must be worth a pint |

| I had the Otter - can't remember which. It was OK. As it was a lunch-time I had the lowest OG. Maybe I've been spoilt by The Tamar down here. The burger was good enough to give it another try, though. It had proper meat in it! |

| I know it's ATD, and we just lurve a thread hijack. But surely we're reaching a crisis point on a par with the situation in Syria when the hijack gets turned into a real ale love-in? |

At least this hijack is important. Going into the Victoria in Ashburton and not having Jail Ale is serious. |
