There must be something about West Ham and spectators scoring. When old hairy was young hairy I took him to see West Ham when we were in London one Saturday. They were, ironically, playing Oxford. The match was one of the last if not last that Billy Bonds played in and I think he was 42 and looking like it. Anyway, the match was an absolute bore 0 - 0 with one redeeming feature. The ball went out of play opposite us and a spectator jumped over the barrier with it and sent a screamer from about 40 yards right into the top corner. Absolute cracking goal and a huge cheer from the crowd. He scuttled off back over the barrier to the applause of everyone. A little while later the same bloke did the same again and scored another belter.
Next day in the paper was a write up which described the game as worse than dour. Except the writer said a fan who gave the only highlight of the day. Can't remember if he got nicked the second time or not now but I think he did.
