Former Plymouth Argyle player and manager Carl Fletcher training with Barnet

Ex Plymouth Argyle captain, player-of-the-year and manager Carl Fletcher is training with Football Conference club Barnet.

However, Herald Sport understands Fletcher, 33, is not about to sign for Barnet, who were relegated from League Two last season.

Barnet's training base in north London is not far from where the former Wales international midfielder is now living.

Fletcher is training with Barnet to stay fit while he keeps his options open about a possible return to competitive action.

He'd still do a job on the pitch for someone, although I thought the reason he turned to management was because his knees had gone?

He has had time out since being a boss and afterwards must have had a good resbite to have one last run for a year or tw.

Personally i think he should be doing his coaching badges and working in coaching to repair his failed job here.

I doubt Fletcher will play league football again. Having that much time out of the game will take one helluva fitness regime and he was on his last legs two years ago.

He hasn't trained properly for about 22 months until now, I reckon Conference level is about the best he could possibly hope for. Hope he gets a deal though.

I never rated him as a player.

Central midfielders ought to be mobile or have good positioning. Fletcher didn't really excel in either.

It didn't help that he captained us to successive relegations and yet didn't get any more influential even as we dropped down the leagues...

I think the 'thumbs' incident endeared him to a lot of the home crowd...and yes, there really wasn't anyone else.

The reluctant bidder thought he was exceptional. Mind you, he either has a very suspect track record when it comes to character judgements, or he makes these errors deliberately.
I mean, Carl the clueless 'exceptional' and the Nool/Tool duo as real fwends ? Reeeeeeeeeeeally ?

He's up to no good I telleeeee lol!

He's going to be their new "Head of Communications"

Pity that the Dutch manager will be more fluent in English ( and football)
