| No idea what to say to this. Percochial in the extreme. Please tell me he's not in a position to influence the appointment of any pasoti board members or anything. But what is a club president anyway? The Japanese president we never saw or heard from the whole time he was appointed. I don't think he even came to the UK. |

Could have been worse Another clever move by Brent/Riddler to keep the Avivas happy and spending most of their money at Home Park. It won't, of course, fool anyone outside this group of terminally tinted dumpties. |

| I dont imagine we will be hearing too much dissent against Brent if it all goes Pete Tong now. Has Ridders silenced the rabble rousers at last? |

| He's filched X-Isle's mantra for his acceptance quote, but left out 'unity'...
I'd worry for The Trust if the 'driving the Argyle forward bit of "hope that Chris will continue to play an important part in driving the Argyle forward" involves some kind of fan representation element.

| Often a management ploy, offer the Union guy a post in management. Think it is a good appointment though. |

I'd love to see the job description.

There is one isn't there? Is this a life Presidency or will it be Sir Ian of Newell in 3 years, by recommendation of Sir Chris of course ? Only at Argyle............ |

| I've just read his comments on the BBC website, what could be construed as his 'acceptance' speech. Will there be a public 'swearing in'?
Anyway he says he wants to 'sell the club to the SW of England'. It's quite worrying that he thinks he needs to do that, what with us being the biggest club in the region.
It's an appointment which encourages parochialism, and one, if things start to go wrong and people within the club don't sign up to the thoughts of President Webb, that may be regretted when the dogs are unleashed. |

| What a complete farce.
Chris Webb should be ashamed. Brent has now shut your fans up and can do anything he wants. It shows also what a joke the Argyle Trust is.
Argyle will never be a fans run club.
Good luck in the Conference. You had a real chance to change things but the wankers on Pasoti sold the club up the river once again. |

What surprises me the most, is that Chris Webb has actually accepted the role. It's almost all a bit 'poacher turned gamekeeper'. By all accounts, his first reaction was to think it all a bit elitest, which of course, would be completely natural for a trade unionist. He was then persuaded to take the role by Newell and Co. No doubt our Mr Newell's dreams of guest seats in the Directors box played a large part in his efforts to ensure Webby signed up. The problem for Chris Webb in all of this, is that sooner or later circumstances will change, and the Brent love-in will fade - how long have previous Argyle owners/Chairman remained in vogue? Then, instead of being at the head of a strong and independent Fans Trust, he'll find himself having to defend whatever measures and constraints Brent has seen fit to implement. That's something that should be quite alien to the Trade Union guy. Well, you would have thought so, wouldn't you? |

| I have no idea what a club president does (suggestions welcome) but I got the impression from his trust gig that he is damn good at organising meetings and talking, that's good right?.
On a side note I see he is getting some stick on exeweb, will any of his mates stick up for him I wonder. |

I agree with pepsipete. Plus it's a very shrewd move by the club. It will be interesting to see what the role entails and how things pan out. |

| Good appointment.
Didn't like the use of the phrase "our rightful place" in the release though. We are in our rightful place, we have reaped exactly what was sewn. We need to be run better. I think this appoinment is a step in the right direction though, which can only be a good thingh, Chris will certainly bring more to the table than an obscure foreign figurehead. |

| I take it it is now only a matter of time before Newel gets an official position of power up at Argyle now that Webb is sewing the seeds for more Pasoti/Trust influence up there. Absolute joke |

| It's an excellent move for Brent and it's straight off the Management Manual and Chris took the bait, hook, line and sinker. For a supposed union guy, that's disappointing but I guess it was worth the price of his soul and well predicted.
The real question is, what's Newell's prize in this *it's all for chairttttty" malarky, OBE? |
