I thought this from the AFT was worthy of it's own thread.

In researching the costs of comparable Grandstands, one that stood out was Hibernian's new 6,400 capacity Grandstand, built a couple of years ago at a cost of £4 million. See here:

It's also worth having a look at the completed stand:

Petrie also praised the club's financial strength in a challenging time for football and the economy as a whole.

Hibs have made a bottom line profit for five consecutive years and hope the extra capacity will continue to boost revenue.

Real football fans at work at their club.

The difference between running a football club how it should be, and treating it as a way of making a quick buck.

There's one thing that is really standing out, this is about development and money, not the Club!

Some fans you are Newell, Webb, Jones etc!

It's all well and good praising that stand but if you look closely you'll notice that the numpties that developed that stand left the bloody school out from the corner Mad

Uh duh !

This is the new stand and didn't cost £4million, if you boys are going to continue with this ridiculous crusade you might at least get your facts straight.

Its is a nice stand, but I think LT is right, 2010 the east stand was to be built, the picture above is 2003!

Its a shame as this would be perfect for Home Park

You may indeed have the correct photo but the cost of the stand was less than £4m

In the clubs accounts at July 2010 the stadium was professionally valued by Jones Lang LaSalle at £18.2m, on the basis of its depreciated replacement cost. Also included in the same accounts was the construction of the new East stand, included at cost of £2.87m. There was also spend committed of £310k (but I don't know for sure if that relates to the further costs of the new stand, but I think it does). The Chairman's Report states that the new stand was built at a cost of approximately £500 per seat. If the stand holds 6000, then that makes the cost about £3m, which ties in with the accounts.

Which gives a valuation of £18m for the stadium, plus a further £3m for the East stand, a total of £21m or thereabouts. This is of course not the cost of the stadium, but an up to date valuation of it.

I guess the fact that it is single tier helps...

It certainly does but I am afraid that grunt's post bears little relation to reality, the total cost of the clearance and build went way over the original estimate, although still far less than Usury Brent's Diddy Stand estimate, even bearing in mind that the Hibees did not have to bear the full cost insiders reckon the whole deal added more than £4million to the club's total debt which is now estimated to be over double the club's turnover.

Figures, especially reliable ones, are a tad hard to get, possibly something to do with the Directors taking over 10% of the club's total income in bunce.

Apologies for posting the wrong picture.

It doesn't detract from the fact that a 6,400 capacity stand was built for a fraction of the cost of the proposed new stand at Home Park.

Or, that while Argyle are building a new Grandstand, Tis's lot are looking for a brickie to sort out that wall that collapsed at their away end.

What it does detract from is the level of confidence one might have in the ability of the AFT to get summat right.

To further that, "Argyle are building a new grandstand"?

I rather think the haven't got a pot to piss in Gargs are having a stand built for them by Usury Brent when they couldn't have afforded it themselves in the next hundred years, in fact they wouldn't have a club now if it wasn't for ol' Jimbob brent, so alluding to the fact that ECFC are skint hardly carries much weight. We know who we are, you guys are the ones who need a reality check.

Oh, and quit it with the "fraction of the cost" crap, the actual costs of the new East Stand have never been released from anything that looks even slightly like a reliable source while the latest 'good' figures show that the directors of Hibernian took over £500k from a T/O of less than £5million in 2010. Sources close to the club suggest the debt is now over £10million, ie. More than double their T/O, hardly surprising you are using them as your example of best practice, what with your record.

ps. Yes I know we are a clusterfook as well, but we are nowhere near as big a clusterfook as you were so stick to the subject.

Have a look at the time lapse of the Hibs West stand build on link below.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

The similarities between the bottom tier and Phase 1 and the way the second tier is supported would suggest that although not a "modular bolt-on" it could be possible. An expensive possibility only feasible after a trip to the premier league I would venture but possible.

What is for sure though, if the access road goes in around the back of Lyndhurst you can forget a similar scheme involving a second tier of sufficient capacity to warrant it's own access.

If you remove all but the first 5 rows of the upper tier then we have brent's ministand. It will look as f***ing hideous as it is damaging to the clubs long term prospects.
