| It is worrying isn't it ?
Brent would appear to be an intelligent, articulate and successful businessmen. He's admitted he knows nothing about football, so perhaps he has either decided to 'use' these guys, as recommended by the likes of Ridsdale because they can be manipulated into squeezing a few quid out of the easily impressed Aviva boys, or he really does think they are representative of football supporters in general and wants to do the right thing ?
One can only imagine what he's really thinking when conversing with these 'dumpties'............... love that word. |

ps Has Newell brainwashed Postey ? He came across as a decent, thinking chap on here. Has reverted to type now.
Small minded parochials. The club is going nowhere with this bunch of self promoting, back slapping janners in control. They're cut from the same cloth as Stapleton ffs ! JV and Greenskin - two voices of reason in three pages of brent worshipping, mediocre accepting, Aviva boy drivel. It's clear the Avivas are not interested in survival. All they want is their *****wallet mk2 and they've got that in james 'legend' brent so they're happy. Any idiot can see we need at least half a new team brought in just to survive! But it's the Aviva way to be happy with non-league oblivion with a shit team because we are now 'saved'. Anyone who disagrees must have pasoti style abuse spat at them in the pasoti tradition. Although in the eyes of all but the terminally stupid Avivas relegation out of the football league is not being 'saved'. |

| Hopefully he will see past the bullocks quite quickly. It has only been a couple of games but you can guarantee that no one is saying anything negative in front of Brent. But results don't lie and if things dont pick up after the next couple of loanees arrive then Brent may well realise he has been sold a dud. He will certainly need to open his wallet come January. |

It's utterly depressing, Ginge Oh well nearly time for the FA Cup first round. Next season we'll have all the 'excitement' of the FA Cup qualifying rounds. But who cares? We've got james 'legend' brent |

29 games left and counting down. My Luton Town mate has already told me he'll get me a ticket for the big match next season Doesn't seem long ago that the Avivas were singing 'we'll never play you again' at Lootown. |

Doesn't seem long ago that the Avivas were singing 'we'll never play you again' at Lootown. I am waiting to see what greengenes is going to say to JV when he sobers up. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]I am sure he will be telling us that everything is going to be ok. Those people that go every week can see that we are a good side that just has (continual) bad luck and it wont be long before we turn everything around. Those that don't attend (but look at results and league tables) dont know what they are talking about. To capitalise on the feelgood momentum that Brent has bought we cannot allow him to have a honeymoon period. Even though it is nearby, I really don't want to be making the trip to Braintree next year. |

| Didn't go, but saw the goals on the football league show. Morecambe's goal was shocking, any other team would have cleared the ball to safety from that passage of hit and hope hoof. Credit to the bloke for the finish though. Also no doubt Walton would have waised a few eyebrows with his goal, no doubt we will have to look for a new midfielder when we sell him for a "Argyle" price in Janurary.

Or even worse we might sell him for a "Ridsdale price" in January |

| I see Webby states of Brent - Quote :
- He is fully aware of the challenge. He is fully aware that experience is needed
How's that then ? Is that due to advice given by one contingency planner in particular I remember who thought we looked the business in pre season ? Football's never been any different ... far too many fans taken in by the lilt of newly mown lush grass Won't be long now before Brent, in true Toddy tradition, is adjudged a bigger fan and a more knowledgable football guru than all of us dummies put together. I wish I understood football half as well as 'James', but then I haven't got his advisors........ |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Compared to Fischer-Diskau's "Winterreise", Dylan's "Mr Tambourine Man", the "Flower Song" from Carmen, Che Gelida Manina, the Beatles etc etc etc I agree but as a fun, rousing anthem it could work well. It's silly fun. |

| Like others I didn't go to the game so my post is more generic than specifically about the team.
Winning is considered to be a habit as is losing, and boy do we seem to sucking on that losing crack pipe at the moment. A good team knows how to control the game from a winning position, they keep possession and make the opposition chase the game, they run down the clock and wind up the other teams players and fans, they know how to put pressure on the ref without picking up needless bookings but above all they make the opposing team look like they could play until midnight without scoring. This is a scenario we have been on the receiving end of far too regularly in the recent past.
For all the potential and endeavour, when you look through our starting line up you see not only a lack of experience but also players who have little experience of playing in successful sides. On the rare occasion we do win we celebrate like we've won a cup final, that's very admirable and shows a level of passion but I'd rather see the business like 'job done' attitude that is associated with players who expect rather than hope to win games.
Teams low on confidence and belief always drop too deep and adopt a backs to the wall mentality, this can work if you have plenty of pace to counter attack with or a big target man to relieve the pressure, if you don't then you are simply waiting for the inevitable equaliser and subsequent winner as you hand all initiative to the opposition.
So what it boils down to is what everyone else is saying, we need experienced heads all over the pitch we need defenders who can put in a "reducer" without getting sent off. We need players who can not only get to the corner flag but keep the ball there by winning a corner or throw in. We need forwards who can bully and wind up centre halves and most importantly we need people sat on the bench who can analyse the game and adapt our game plan to suit the situation. Not having been to any games I can't say first hand which of these attributes we already posses, but going on the results and our inability to protect a lead I suspect the answer may be very few. |

| I didn't go but I can guess the pattern. Lots of attractive passing with virtually no penetration, a moment of class from Walton and we find ourself a goal up.
We then shit our collective pants and adopt a completely OTT defensive mindset considering the opposition and inevitably concede. Ooh this Morecambe side are unbeaten away from home.....
I don't think we'll go down because the standard of this league is pathetic but if we don't start picking ip pouts we will and everything is bollocks. 4 relegations on the bounce would be beyond a joke. |

I think we would die of shame. Crowds of 2,000 in the conference would see us back in admin before you could blink. Though some think the club is saved there is a big iceberg on the horizon and HMS Argyle is heading full steam towards it. |

If we do go down, it will be with mixed emotions embarrassment and misery at the depths to which we will have plunged and frustration with the sort that will be getting moist about taking 1100 supporters to Twerton Park |

Almost. What I saw was lots of sideways passing with intermittent penetration - but nobody to provide the killer pass or the killer goal. But we threatened. Walton's goal was a moment of class. I don't think we then went into a completely over the top defensive mindset - in some ways we upped the attacks once Lecointe was on. Morecambe then rang the changes with substitutions and in the last 15 - 20 mins put us under pressure. At that point there was increasing panic leading to their goal. We have a bunch of kids with no old pro in defence or attack to do the holding together. But, there was a lot to be not despairing of IF we make the right signings in the next week or so - the all-important IF. |

If we go down again it will be a such a catastrophic blow to the club that it may never recover. And if it does recover it could take a generation. The local population has always been (quite rightly) very cynical about Argo, even during the good times, mainly due to the attrocious quality of boardroom incumbents but relegation to non-league would just about finish it for many. Sadly the Aviva leadership seem to have the ear of Brent. It appears to me that the Aviva leadership are content for the club to drop out of the football league as they personally would have the opportunity to be 'big fish' in the shrinking pond that is PAFC. Of course I hope I'm wrong but why else, as has been reported, would certain individuals tell Brent the team just needs minor tweeking when clearly we need at least 6-7 new players for survival? Very worring times. |
