Well, there we have it. As fully expected it's cheap, small and half arsed. I will oppose brent's wider developments as neither those nor his shit 'stand' benefit PAFC in anyway, shape or form that I can see. Let the good people of Plymouth scupper brents wider developments and with them this abomination of a 'stand', as I'm sure they will - one man's NIMBY is another mans hero. Then when brent slithers off let someone with class, ambition and vision come in and build a proper stand that a club with Argyle's potential and a City the size of Plymouth deserve.

ps. That game, the Turks brought two and a half thousand, most of your visitors next season in the Blue Square will struggle to bring two and a half car loads.

Hilarious from the club who's record attendance is 20,000 in 1931, and the biggest crowd seen in Exeter this millennium was at the opening of Primark.

No ambition, no vision, no hope.

F*ck em, I'm out of this sh*t city, sh*t country. Viva Cuba. Yaraina, get the mojito ready girl, I'm on my way over. afro

Correct me someone if I have got this wrong on the picture (No 20) from gos it states total seats 4100 lower tier. Then on picture 21 upper tier 920 seats which equals 5020 seats in total. But if you look at picture 20 it states 600 hospitality seats are included in the 4100 figure(the ones behind the glass in the business lounge in blue) and 18 companion seats for stewards.

A quick maths session works out the stand will not hold 4800 as we have been told. see below

Lower tier 4100
upper tier 920
total 5020
minus 600 hospitality/ business lounge behind glass
minus 18 seats for stewards

Total 4402
So not 4800 then when did the size of the stand include hospitality/ business lounge or corporate boxes.

That'll do Jock, I think you will find the record for Gnome Park was also set in the 1930s, but let's focus on the real issue here, what will happen over the next decade or so ? Your chances of selling out a ground that holds 18k rest with a decent FA Cup draw against most of your so called fans first team.

This whole little top tier thing is a bit of as statement, a kind of exclusive zone for what we shall refer to as 'special fans'.

It's shits Tizzers but at least we'll have four fit for purpose stands. As opposed to your two.

Everything ever raised against Brent is now coming home to roost, the club is an embarrassment to the proud city of Plymouth. Build it big or sling your hook!

I wonder how many people are under the same impression as Greenjake on the farm, who thinks that all revenue from the ice-rink, cinema and hotel will go to the club Razz

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Seriously though I wouldn't be at all surprised if there are a big chunk of people who think this because of the vagueness of the whole thing.

No real figures being quoted for expected revenue, other than some wildly optimistic numbers being bandied about in relation to what the Chiefs get up the road.

Poor old Greenjake has been told in no uncertain terms the club won't benefit but he still doesn't quite believe his beloved brent would be so "dim" (dim! - I ask you Laughing Laughing ) or selfish. What a gimp.

No it's not. It's almost exactly the same as the previous iteration except there is 5 rows of seats added above the executive boxes. It looks shit beyond imagination.

We're going to need two clubs to do a Hereford & Macclesfield imo.

Or a York.

For that reason there's only really one place to sweat about IMO. Odds are in your favour. Hopefully you'll beat Cheltenham and Burton and make a lot of Grecians very happy.

To be fair Jock Greenjake was quickly outed as a total feckin 'tard. The prick was massively patronising to plenty of other posters and then didnt bat any eyelid when put right.

I couldn't see the scale and there was no comparison to the existing grandstand but simple question, "is the footprint of the new grandstand smaller than the existing one, and if so by how much?"
I'd love to know the answer to that question.

Not long back from the Theatre Royal event.

I've got to go out in a short while so some brief comments....

First the shocking fact I was told by the Akkeron rep there, with whom I had a reasonably long conversation. He was adamant that the other three sides CANNOT easily be extended to any marked degree. They have been in discussion with the builders of those areas (Barr ????) and they have confirmed that they cannot have extensions "clipped on" so to speak. Any wish to develop those areas in future would be a substantial job. We discussed the reality that if, in future, we needed to develop the ground, the best option would be to take down, for example, the Devonport End & build a substantial stand there. That would make sense.

He was definite that, following fans' feedback earlier in the week, the new stand will be two tier. That will extend the capacity by 1,000 though it would also lose a couple of hundred lower down (I think).

As David says above, that means the capacity of the new stand will be 4,800. It would not be capable of being extended further in future.

The possibility of extending the capacity in the short term would probably be at the back of the present horseshoe. If I understood him correctly, that would involve putting seating into the structure on the "outside" of the stand that forms the balance to the cantilever. This could provide, I think, 2,000 to 2,500 extra seats.

The rest of the development looks good and provides all the things you would expect in a modern football club.

I couldn't work out the size of the road that will take vehicles behind the Barn Park. It appeared to provide facility to drop off away fans. The Club rep who was there stated it would not be used to park - just for turning and dropping off.

The design of the Garden of Remembrance behind the Barn Park seemed to be still up for suggestion. One consideration appeared to be possibly putting the emblematic turnstiles there. However, it is believed that they are in a fragile state and may not allow for demolition and removal.

I would advise anyone going tomorrow to take along someone who can easily read architect's drawings. I'd also advise taking along kneeling pads if you are old & decrepit (not a youngster like me Very Happy ) as a number of the drawings are at a low level and in a cramped corner of the main foyer. It was very busy!

Various representatives of the PASB were there and plotting furiously. Very Happy

I had a very similar conversation and everything you say is accurate except we got a bit more about the road which will skirt the stadium intimately along the concourse between the stadium wall and the top of the steps outside the Lyndhurst. The road will be the access route to everything else and will have to be closed when a match is on which I can't see being popular with the hotel visitors.

Each row has been allocated 840 cm in depth so work out the legroom according to that.

There is going to be underground parking for 400 cars underneath the ice rink and hotel.

If it goes ahead the the only conclusion to be drawn is that Brent sees the football team with a mixture of complete and utter contempt and disdain because all hope we might have that one day with a following wind and a bit of luck that we'll amount to something will be dashed forever because the proposed extension to the Lyndhurst will be too expensive in terms of return and will never happen and the road makes a second tier impossible (even if it is possible now which it might not be).

The stadium design is an inadequate piece of crap.

Looks like we were conned by Stapes and co when they said that the three sides of Phase 1 could be tiered without much trouble should Argyle need a 27000 [!] capacity.Always thought that Phase 1 was a cheap cop out by people who had already patronisingly decided that the championship was to be our ceiling and it looks as though further downsizing of ambition has now been the chosen course of action. Run by fans for fans!
