Back after a weekend at home to watch the game. Suffice to say it was dire (the game not the trip it's always good to be in Plymouth). I don't know if the reuslt would have been different if Fletcher was still in charge but if I didn't know we had a new manager I would have said the same man was still in charge.

Of course the new guy needs time to settle his tactics, his first choice team and new players in but it was woeful fare. If as people around be said the previous home game was worse than that is almost beyond comprehension.

Make no mistake the clubs football survival is on a life support machine. Sheridan will have to a miracle worker and hope (again) that there are two worse teams than Argyle.

The atmosphere is sullen amongst the paying punters. I don't know if Brent or his people get out amongst the crowd but I sit with a goodly number of long term season ticket holders who are seriously doubting their sanity and whether they will renew next year. And these are battled hardened long in the tooth die hards who been there done and seen and put up with most other things that have been thrown at them as Argyle fans.

They are also people who have no truck with murals, FV or bland platitutdes from a President or sainted owner. They are in it for the love of it but are heading towards a divorce. It's just footbll to them. Lose that type of fan and no amout of wooing new supporters with flags, family areas or lovely vomitories is going to replace them because they would lose interest too quickly.

Sorry this post isn't so much about the game but a club for all the onward and upwards resurgam rhetoric is on it's last legs. The new going for the playoffs at a minimum or promotion as a goal is survival in the football league by goal difference on the last day of the season if necessary. There is nothing to be very proud about the club at the moment and that is the crying crying shame.

The bigger picture is more valid than anything else these days. Thanks for your insight Dougie.

Brent and those who advise him really fecked up with Fletcher, despite warning voices, and it may be too late for Sheridan to do much about it, unless he has the midas touch.
I fear that is not the case, as if you recognise a weak squad has a lack of confidence too, you don't keep banging on about it.

The Blue Square is beckoning unless money is found for some real class, attacking options PDQ. It will cost a lot more in the long run if this city club drops out of the football league.
Still can't help thinking that murals, fanfests, the directors' box experience etc are far too important to some superfans and Brent is not only listening to the wrong people but has his business eye on other things.

Good post that. The truth is that there has been nothing to be proud of at this football club since the time of Holloway's leaving. Off field shenanigans, corporate and individual greed, and total disregard for the lifeblood of the club, namely the paying fans, have all contributed to the demise of PAFC.

And I think it's going to get worse.
