| Anyone know this Andy a big Argyle supporter? Head of Toronto transport system appointed to Plymouth Airport campaign board, he is backing the reopening of the airport Mr Byford grew up in Newton Ferrers and went to school in Ivybridge before climbing the corporate ladder. He held senior positions in the London Underground, with two UK train operating companies, and was chief operating officer at RailCorp in Australia. He is now in charge of the third largest transit system in North America, with 500million passengers per year, in Toronto, a city with two airports. He still has a flat in Plymouth and intends to return to the city to live one day. He's also a Plymouth Argyle season ticket holder and was most recently at Home Park for the Boxing Day clash with Torquay United More on the airport on this link. | Another son of Ivybridge called in to help the metropolis out of a jam. What would Plymouth do without the People's Republic of South Hams? |

| I've not been following this story, but last time I was in Plymouth it looked like they had stuck loads of houses on the old airport site, next to the teaching college. Are they planning to acquire some land further north towards Dartmoor?

| Lots of people have looked at the viability of the airport, Brent included, and decided there was either losses to be made, or at the very best, not enough profit to make. Getting a fella like this on board can only be a good thing. Like he says, if Plymouth does have asperations of becoming a leading waterfront city, an airport will be a massive part of that particular jigsaw. I was speaking to someone today who flew home to the Isle of Man for Christmas. Where did he fly from? Gloucester. GLOUCESTER ffs. Ok it only has flights to the IoM, Jersey, and Belfast, but if somewhere that has Bristol airport 45 minutes south, and Birmingham 45 minutes north can run viable flights, Plymouth should be able to compete with Exeter and feckin Newquay! |

| If Sutton harbour holding company were told in no uncertain terms that there is going to be no planning permission granted on the airport site it would still be running now as an airport. People with money run this country, too many favours and back handlers given out to people that rape our green and pleasant land and then fuk off with out paying as much tax as your average person who signs on, wankers. |
