I read it as more of a pre-cursor to someone like Harvey leaving for some stupid sub-£50k fee.

Then they can turn around and say, "well yes, we've lost one of the brightest prospects the club has had in years. But 'cos we've offloaded Harvey, it's mean't that we've been able to bring back the dumpy little fatty who's been so overwhelmed with offers (not), that his only option was to come to a 4th division club like ours and fight relegation..."

Has MacDonald played well enough to merit bringing him back full time? Or is there no one better?

Like most fans, I don't detect a meritocracy operating up at Home Park, management or playing staff.
Something else must be at play, with only certain relegation out of the league being the one no go area.
A dangerous game or football for dummies ?

One thing that is certain is that this will be treated as a 'new signing' and will be told to be grateful.
