Brent did say at the ATD Q&A that there was a "rainy day fund" (not sure it was Fletcher) for dimwit to use later in the season (to aid a promotion push Laughing or cover injuries).

The existence of said fund probably depended on us reaching the budgeted 8k figure. It's disappeared covering the shortfall for that.

Anyway you spin this it means a cut in the playing squad. Even if by some miracle we offload Purse, it looks like his wages are just going to be used to bring in a player who was here anyway on loan - so we wouldn't be getting a 'new' players as such, just losing Purse to keep McDonald. We'd then have to get another loan in to cover Purse, so we are shuffling our pack just to try and stand still (mixed metaphor). Given that 'standing still' at the moment equates to stumbling towards the trap door, these are worrying times indeed.
