| Well done Carl the clueless!!!!!, 3 wins in a row 9 scored only 2 conceded 2 points from the play-offs, not bad for someone who doenst know what he's doing.
Well done Argyle, we wont get promoted but a steady mid table looks on the cards, and then we can really push on next season. |

| A steady mid table in this league is nothing less than failure.
In fact, not getting promotion is abject. |

| Well I called for Fletcher out after the Wimbledon game, then we went and beat Aldershot followed by 2 league wins in a row. I should cal for him to go more often.
We're well clear of relegation and I don't think we have to worry for a second about the Blue Square, but mid table in this league isn't success at all. Whilst getting a second win in a row is a step forward, as is putting in a quality performance against a good side not just Barnet, I'd still advise against getting too carried away. Two tricky games against Cheltenham and Rotherham, 0 points could suddenly see it all look less pretty again. If we can get 3 points or more from those two, then it'll all start to look a lot more like genuine progress that isn't just a false dawn.
Do I still think Fletcher should go? Tricky question. Part of me doesn't know what to think as I would have sacked him after Wimbledon then we win three which puts my decision making under question. Part of me thinks he ought to stay as the margins between things going well and badly are still so very, very fine. However, I called for his head for a reason and that was because we'd flattered to deceive for too long with a big budget in a poor league. I still think a change ought to have been made after Wimbledon. If we can start progressing in the medium term rather than just the odd good win then perhaps (and I bloody hope so) he'll prove all the doubters wrong. 2 wins in a row is a bloody good start on the way to long term progress but it's not there yet. If we can make this season into a top half one whilst adapting to a better style of football then that's good enough for me and if Fletcher can do that he should be given more time to try and get us up. As I say though, we're not there yet. This is very different to two weeks ago but it could all still flip back the other way if we're not careful. |

| Sparkling first half from Argyle, started on the front foot and stunned the Dale with two early goals, one from yet another debateable penalty calmly converted by Madjo, great header from Guerrieri for the second. Some of Argyle's one touch passing and movement was terrific [MacDonald and the free running Guerrieri involved in much of it] but Rochdale gave warning just before HT that they were not out of the game by hitting the post from a header. The old syndrome of sitting back on a lead was to the fore in the second half,Cole saved a penalty and Adebole converted a header from a disputed free kick, generally speaking the ref and linesman were shite.Game finally wrapped up in injury time,Lennox brought down, spot kick again converted with aplomb by Madjo, who was a strong target man throughout the game.MacDonald was outstanding in the first half but my MOM was Hourihane, probably the most influential match to date from a player who seems to be gathering strength. Is this really the start of consistently better things? Two hard away games coming up will go some way towards providing the answer but a good performance today gives a bit of optimism that things may be on the up. |

Just random? |

Couldn't be there today but this sounds very promising. I'd like us to get to 50 points ASAP, then who knows what may happen. Fletch is King. |

Just random? I was wondering that. To be fair we've only had I think 3 penalties against all season which isn't an extraordinary amount for 16 games in all competitions. 7 penalties for though which certainly is. Perhaps the on the floor, high tempo style of football wins more penalties against big League 2, lumpen defenders than the long ball style does. |

| I'd agree with all you said, Greenskin, although I thought it was less that we sat back on the lead than Rochdale pressed us hard. Considering how well Rochdale have done so far into the season, that wasn't surprising. But we stuck at it and showed grit as well as ability.
The ref was crap!
As for penalties, I think theirs and our second one was dubious as was the free-kick that led to their goal. Adebola had more elbow than Guy Garvey but, like the seasoned pros that they are, he and Purse kissed and hugged at the end of the game. |

| Adebola and Purse would have been together at Brum. |

| Ah! That must be why after Adebola gave him the elbow a couple of times, Purse shrugged it off and got on with the game. I've seen him get his revenge on other occasions.
Useless fact of the day: when Purse was at Brum, his children went to the same primary school as mine. He drove a bloody big 4x4 with the number plate PUR 5 E. Bloody poser. |

Well done Argyle, we wont get promoted but a steady mid table looks on the cards, and then we can really push on next season. By Xmas, if we're still where we are in terms of the points gap, I'll be satisfied with that. We're pulling away from the bottom two (it's nine points now and prior to yesterday, it was seven) and keeping close to those play-offs. Three points from a decent away side and it was a good performance. We were 2-0 up when Fletcher brought on Lennox and that speaks for itself - a few months ago, Fletcher would have brought on a defensive midfielder for a striker and tried to defend the lead. We did have Lowry and Nelson on the bench but he picked Lennox. The referee was terrible, the linesman on the Lyndhurst side was even worse and Adebola should have seen red for a clear elbow on Purse and constant shirt tugging on Blanchard. Rochdale were a big side (in terms of physique) but what we didn't do was end up being sucked into a slugfest of long balls. The first ten minutes were as good as I've ever seen us play at Home Park and that includes the Tynan era, the Holloway years and those promotion seasons under Sturrock. We looked average up until the last ten but we could easily have been 4-0 up after ten minutes. Good stuff. |
