Lovely sight a Barn Owl, we get them round here but not seen one lately. We have got a male Blackcap stuffing himself all day on the bird table he is puffed up so much he is nearly round. They always breed in the thorn in the corner of the garden by the wood, it's good to see him return. After seeing the Swallows weeks ago I haven't seen anymore.

shopping at the Kwop today, currently they are giving a voucher for £16 off an £80 spend. that and free delivery makes them unbeatable IMO.

I frequently see and hear owls from y window or through the huge window at the Chapel Arts. Last summer/Autumn there was one across the river that we watched quartering the field in Devon.

Exciting sight.

I hear lots, but am unable to glimpse them, ditto woodpeckers though I have managed to spot them, apart from the lesser spotted.

In my last garden we had a lesser spotted a few times in one of our trees - they used to nest in a little copse about half mile away.

Nowadays I don't have a garden so from home the birds I see are nearly always a distance away.

No sign of the peregrine for a while.....

Forgot to put the rubbish down the chute before the bin men came yesterday.

Still, at least mine'll be right at the bottom.

What owl do you only see once a month?

A sanitary owl.

Went to the pictures with two small people this morning (Wreck Em Ralph in 3D, £3 per person of any size, including the special glasses but not a booster seat as they were all in use). It was bedlam. Still managed a short nap, though.

In other news, I took part in a pub quiz last night. We won. Nobody on here will be particularly surprised to learn what our team was called.

No. I've never worked on a ship. Or on the railways.

I realised today that the sparrow hawk that visits us quite often is really a goshawk. I feel quite bad that I thought a sparrow hawk would kill a pigeon- doh.

No. I can't believe nobody's guessed it.

(But anybody who's my friend on facebook isn't allowed to guess.)

I have man flu.

It's so serious that it may interfere with golf this weekend.
