| Probably less than a seasons wages I'd guess. Ker-ching. It is almost bound to have been less than it would have cost and the chances of loaning him out were probably a tad slim. If you want rid then it has to make more sense this way. |

| We are supposed to be spending our competitive budget buying players, not offloading them.Joking apart, this is pretty poor form from Fletcher, stringing the guy along through pre season then dumping him after three games. Not the way to treat your players Fletcher. |

| He's panicked obviously. Realised we are still shit, been told to ship someone out before getting anyone else in. Obvious. |

| Just when did the club realise the squad was too big. Moreover what did they do to try to reduce it. How many players are on the transfer list or their availability for moves made known to other clubs or the players themselves.

| Probably true.
But it's only become a narrative from the club at the point the ,dreaded metaphor alert, transfer window slams shut or was imminent slamming shut.

| Just a point of interest, how many people still think we've got a small budget? It's a world of different opinions of course but I think it's becoming more evident that we actually do have a pretty decent budget.
Paying for 28 players can't come cheap, there's bound to be more to come too. It's a season long budget. If we do continue struggling over the season, it's Fletcher to blame for misusing a decent budget, not the fault of Brent for providing the budget itself.
I think a budget that can accomodate 28 players in a League Two squad (not all of them on pennies either), plus all the football coaching and otherwise staff, not to mention signing on fees and agent fees, is a pretty reasonable budget to say the least. It's now up to Carl to show the fruits of that budget. The bemoaning of the budget itsef though is something I don't personally agree with. |

| Agreed, paying for 28 players cant come cheap.
Annoying that if we didnt have 4 or 5 of the players, we could probably have got 2 quality players in, i feel like Fletch has wasted some of the budget. Quality over Quantity every day for me. |

I have to say the same. I like Fletch too and I can't get my head around some of the stick he gets but he's made it a lot more difficult for himself than he's needed to. |

| Why do you like Fletch?
He doesn't seem to have had any 'success' at all?
Unless you count staying up by the skin of your teeth....

The word to remember is "relative". 28 players wages is comparable to several other clubs in this division yet we have a larger income then most, this could well make our budget "cheap" and with consideration to the standard of entertainment, results and performance it would indicate that our budget is indeed cheap, very cheap. |

| A friend of mine, Luton supporter , posted this today............................ Hates loan signings massive sign of weakness at this stage of the season unless it's an emergency. Luton beginning to worry me. Like · · Share · 7 hours ago via Mobile · Fletch is an absolute shambles and has of course, the full support of Brent/Jones and the jamboys. |

| On the face of it, having 28 pro's on the books is properly top-heavy for a club in our position. But when a lot of them are kids on £3-400 a week, then the 28 player squad 'problem', is misleading, and becomes less of a problem. How many of them will be full of discontent if they aren't in the first eleven? - less than a handful I reckon. If we had a proper set-up, playing a proper reserve team in a proper reserves league, no one would bat an eyelid at having 28 pros. Sending young pro's to places like Bideford to play virtual parks football is pointless in my opinion. If we have any aspirations about creating a professional set-up, these kids need to be playing, at the very least, against kids of their own standard, if they're going to progress. That's Argyle at the minute tho', if we were a stick of rock we'd have 'tin-pot' running right through us... |

| thats the problem now, we've fallen so far. the sides we would normally loan player to like Yeovil & Exeter, Torquay are superior to us (washing my mouth with soap!) - teams like bideford as the only ones we could loan players too - expect maybe weymouth ?
and as for 28 players ! well thats 8 too many in my book. we may indeed have a competive budget BUT if its spent on a massive squad of mediocore players then there wont be much room for manouvere.
get rid of 3-4 players on 300quid a week & thats a reasonable player we could sign at this level (ot at least it should be!) instead.

| I can only surmise they were all offered contract extensions if they accepted the back pay situation. |

I concur. Thought that all along. Nothing seems very controlled at the moment. The Soukana thing highlighted he's not wanted in the morning gone in the evening. McDonald turning up after he's played against during the week. There is no way that deal was on the table at any time before we played them. |

| I would have assumed our wage budget would be healthier than last seasons given Damien Johnson and Simon Walton the last of the championship wages have left! So 1-2 more signings could have been accommodated. |
