To be honest Gob, I think that sort of question needs to be vioa a pm.

If not, the Mods could be inundated with requests along similar lines "Was it me??"

I know I always type his name incorrectly, but knetch (Ian) I would trust, as I would Charlie, as I have either met or had dealings with them and have a feeling. That is not to slur Ali, but I just dont know him. Frank and Pete, I just dont understand their role sufficiently to know anything!.

I do think this episode is a case of "rabbits held in car headlights syndrome" and for a team of new Mods with no experience to fall back on think they are managing well. Franks statement was needed and acknowledged collective action and blame, which I think took courage.

Personally, in this life you have to make a leap of faith at times and trust someone.

I hear what you are saying and I have re read the post from Ian de Lar.

I have also read the long post from Frank where he clearly says they took a collective decision and are now collectively saying they wouldnt repeat the action again.

I am heartened they are now looking to move forward and be guided by the DPA. As I have said it must be very challenging for the new Mods and they have had a steep learning curve and its not over yet.

If they have good procedures in place I think they will have done well by the time tthe "full stop" is typed.

I am sorry that you feel it may have been your IP address given to Pasoti, but I cant see any mention of that to confirm it. Its hard at times, but we have to get on or get out.

And I will add...

I have no worries about what has happened between the mod teams, I have done nothing wrong. At no point have I thought that any mod on here would have released any information about me.
I would add that if my IP address had matched the one that pasoti supplied in full or part of to Charlie then I would think the mods would have contacted me via PM PDQ asking questions. Then if not happy with my answers then expect my account to be terminated.

What they did after that, I don’t know how I would play it if I was a mod and I don’t think I would want to be in their shoes.

No, Tony. This should be dealt with completely out in the open. We should know by now where doing things in private/secret gets us.

As things stand, we have two accounts of what happened, one of which says that a member of this site had their private information handed over without their knowledge or consent.

At the very least, we need to know in full exactly what happened, and the person whose IP was handed over should be informed.

I would also like to know if it was just one persons IP that had been handed over and nothing more and, if the mods that are unconnected are aware exactly of what was handed over?

I dont disagree with you about getting the facts out in the open, that is right and will lead to trust. What I am clearly argueing for, is that private data should not be bandied about in the open without the persons permission.

If you re read my posts Im sure thats not a fag paper between us on this issue.

Maybe a time could be set (say 9 o'clock tonight for example) to release the info to the individual concerned. That way everyone non involved would know by not receipt of a PM it wasn't them. At that point it would be up to the individual to decide what they do about the situation.

I would say that whatever they are up to over there seems to have worked. They must be rubbing their hands wih glee. I think this site and PASOTI should keep its own houses in order and nothing else?
