| [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Looks like there's a great future for Morcambe's pies. Pilgrims' Pasties from the market will have to look to their laurels. Merv Plummer |

| Morcambes's pies probably are better to those 'we're happy to have a club without thinking about who sponsored us eating shit pasties .
Ginsters done very well out of Argyle, where are they now? |

Ginsters done very well out of Argyle, where are they now? Still at Callington arent they? Ive advocated for a long time now we ought to have an annual blind tasting to decide who will be Argyles official pasty supplier. I suspect Ginsters would not enter as you can sense mince a mile away:) |

| Wish you could learn how to quote and delete Mr Hooper. I just can't quote you as I should in a normal environment.
I think Ginsters have moved well ahead of us, they're national. Obviously you're right to say they're still in Callington. We're in division 4 and no longer needed. |

| Argyle closing the Lyndhurst/Barnpark area must have had an impact on sales from the food outlets. As a group, we would always get a beer @ h/t, but the queues now, with everyone clambering to get served from one or two outlets, mean we don't bother any more. Stupid prices for awful beer doesn't help either. We're not the only ones who don't bother any more too.
Argyle never seem to learn. |

| I listened to the Food programme on Radio 4 a few weeks ago, and the Morecambe pies sounded mouthwateringly good; even for a vegetarian!! Came out top of 1 category.
I was speaking to the owner of Pilgrim Pasties in the Market when we made it over for the Chelt game and was buying pasties to export to Belgium. He hoped to get into the catering side at Home Park, and I hope he does. The ones we got were big and very tasty.
If anyone hears what happens on the catering side I'd be very interested. The ones on offer for that w/end at HP were dire; as was the football.

| Can I dare to say that when I lived in the pastie desert that was the English Midlands the spread of Ginsters was a welcome taste sensation. But, agreed, now I am back home they are not worth the effort.
I've spoken with people who have visited the factory who have reported back on some good aspects particularly on their efforts to source local products for their wider range. The last I heard they were unable to manage local mushrooms but managed pretty well on the rest. |

| As Knecht states Ginsters do source locally where they can. The beef usually comes from slaughterhouses in Treburley and Bodmin. A lot of their potato/ swede comes from a producer based near Saltash. At their peak they can produce 4 million units (pastys, sausage rolls, slices etc) per week.
If you want some cheap slices/ pasties etc their shop sells seconds for around £4 - £6 box of 18 - 24 units- good for parties etc. (My boss freezes them and whenever colleagues go to his place for lunch he always does a ginsters pasty).

| I went to Morecambe season just gone, I purchased a Steak pie when I went into the ground (knowing that they won an award but expecting little), it was bleddy gorgeous, 5 minutes later, I went an got a chicken and bacon one, it was bleddy gorgeous and then at half time I got another steak one, yep you guessed it, gorgeous. Usually hate stadium food, but hats off to Morecambe, reasonable prices also. |

The veg comes from just outside Torpoint, there's a bleddy great sign saying something like "Grown for Ginsters". Here's a first, I don't think that a Ginsters is all that bad for a national product providing it's kept away from the microwave and after all, it's pretty much 100% local. NO PASTIE SHOULD EVER BE ALLOWED NEAR A MICROWAVE! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |
