| Torquay seem set to be losing arguably their best player Eunan O'Kane to Crawley (around £175k)- [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]Now their keeper is being linked to Peterboro- [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| It's the natural order of things though ain't it.
We lose all our best players while in the play-off spots in the Championship. Exeter lose theirs after their highest ever league finish in league 1. Torquay have theirs poached while they're still in league 2.

It would appear to be the case and is clearly a reflection on a combination of the relative attendance figures and wealth in the boardroom. What now concerns me is the seemingly habitual spectre of 'fund raising' by supporters of Argyle, to supposedly prop up the club. Pasoti has been in overdrive for months thanks to the usual suspects with the silly hats and it now is spreading to ATD. Even I found myself contributing ffs ! On the farm, there is even a thread suggesting that advertising space be purchased with Pasoti/ATD both being involved As yet, nobody has rubbished the idea Football fans in general, self excluded these days, already spend considerable amounts of money on the ever tarnished product, in the name of blind faith and loyalty to 'the cause'. I could understand the concept to some extent, if the fans actually had real ownership of the club but from what I can see, Brent is using the club's assets for his own gain and is now encouraging, through the fund raising hysteria being generated by his local tribal leaders, the rank and file to fund the club's survival/future. If it works out and a couple of promotions follow, it will be himself personally, who can cash in. |

| I thought the joint ATD/Pasoti advertising board was a wind-up!
Stick to sponsoring a player and if we have another fundraising drive in the future, let's aim for a board of our own. |

| We read it. Sitting in the dark. Sometimes sitting in the light. We read it.
We take it in.
Like hawks.
Or if it's dark. Like owls.
We lurk.
Like crocodilia.
We read it.
Pasoti.
Read.
We read it. |

There is no way that mankind possesses the ability to make something as drastic as that up.

Who said anyone on here doesn't read Pasoti? The usual accusation is ATD members take too much notice of Pasoti! You're either a complete fuckwit, which is far worse than a muppet because at least muppets have Jim Henson's hand up their arse most of the time, or that last bifta you just finished was too much even for a Devonian Socialist called Michael. |

| Most Argyle supporters read PASOTI even if they aren't members so what is wrong with that? I find it is the quickest way to find out if anything is new but occasionally have a look at what's in and what's not on there. I have no wish to take part though and most on here don't make a song and dance about who is posting whatever on there either. A fair few read ATD from PASOTI as well tcm but most, unlike some, don't join in or comment in likewise fashion.
If, and it is a big if, Argyle manage to scrape their way back up the leagues it is a fact that they will be worth more than they are now. However, despite people wanting it to happen so they can say "told you so", there is also no evidence to suggest anyone will "cash in" on the success. Brent has pretty much done what he has said. Yes he is still a businessman but has said he would rightly hand over the reins to anyone better financed to push the club on further. No doubt he will want back what he has spent if indeed he spends anything but their is no evidence to suggest he will make a vast profit. At the moment that assumption he will is pure guess work.
The lets collect money for them thing does seem to be vogue currently. People do seem to be getting carried away with it but it won't last. The incomes in this region will not allow it to last and I'm sure the momentum will fall away in the end. Without nikkk I wonder how much in donations there would have been and if he stops how much would be collected in the future. Whether local clubs are pillaged or not, it is pretty much a fact that Exeter and Torquay do not have the current potential to go far but at least Argyle does out of the three or even four if you include Yeovil. As always realising the potential is the had part. |

| Sad, but inevitable, when word gets around that the club has lost it's thrust ... workers leave and customers find something else to do, and the demise runs it's course. It's not so much the money available per se, the malaise hits when everyone involved with said club realise the momentum has had it's day... I assume that must have happened at Torquay, just as it did at Exeter last year with the sale of their best two players, and as it happened with us when we sold everyone and the owners gambled on the big buck World Cup property bonanza. I was most impressed with Torquay's footballing team last year .... for L2 ... far better than our offerings. Having played for them a long time ago, I sort of have a soft spot for them, if not their hopeless beach and harbour, but their malaise is no different than the Home Park Virus ( HPV ). In view of the above, any decent players/admin etc that might be worth half a penny of nothing will be looking at this time of year to secure a more promising club if they can possibly land one. So, with Argyle in mind, if I were an up and coming footballer, would I be banging at the door of a football club owned by a rugby union-centric public school boy with no penchant to spend on football at all, and being influenced by a bunch of non walleted low/middle manager type local wannabes that will be spouting classic nonsense.... imagine having to listen with glassy eyes and nod to that lot after every game. I would imagine Argyle would be ordinarily a club to go for in those low leagues, but would assume it is a club to avoid for the time being |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Now this would be a good signing for us, but Brent might have to dip his hand into his pocket and hand over a nominal fee, and I can't see that happening. Plus we have Darren Purse instead, who at 43 still has a year or two at this level on his £150k a week wages. Plus it's still only mid June and what is the point in buying players this early? Wait until others become available. Most footballers are still on holiday, as I suppose Fletcher is, and in a week or two Fletchers phone will be abuzz with top players agents offering him the creme de la creme of League 2/BSP over the hill players. |

| Say what you like Jock, but Argyle have been quicker out of their blocks than a quick thing over the last 3 or 4 seasons. Nothing like getting a good head of steam up for the road ahead. Frightening really. It's only been a few months now, but Brenty is beginning to look like an orator without a speech. |
