| How many more players do you think are needed to achieve a top half finish?
Cole Berry, Blanchard, Purse, Williams/Baz New, New, Wotton, New Chadwick, Cowan Hall
Assuming Berry and Williams sign
I would hope Hemmings will sign but I don't think it's gonna happen, need a complete rebuff in midfield |

Chadwick is injury prone and has a modest goal scoring record, Cowan has come from the Conference South and is still young. I suppose we could scrape a top-half finish based solely off a tight defense, but ultimately to progress we need at least 1, and probably 2 strikers who can put away chances on a regular basis. As you say, midfield also needs improvement. |

| Hopefully Cowan is the find of the century, but if he isn't then we still need one good striker and someone in midfield creating the chances.
Our defence is sound enough so unless there is a quality full back going cheap, then it's goalscorers for me. |

| I think we should try Liam Dickinson again. He was very strong against Purse and Blanchard (when we drew 2-2) and is a much better target man than Feeney or Chadwick. Feeney doesn't offer anything other than workrate and after a decent loan spell, Chadwick has done little. |

| A brand new midfield and at the very least one more striker, because Feeney will barely hit the target and Chadwick won't make a full season. Not convinced there is adequate back up for the defence either. Just have to see what our extensive contact's, ahem, can come up with. |

| It is rather silent on the transfer front so far. A few clubs in League Two seem to be making strides in signing new players.
I would like to see Hemmings return on a ful-time contract if it were possible, but i expect he will be snapped up by a much bigger club no doubt..
I suppose Fletcher has his targets though ??. I just hope they are good enough to wear an Argyle shirt and do not come down here to take the pee..
I am really glad the Weston-Super-Mare fixture is on,i can now book a few days up there around that fixture. |

| I don't think Hemmings will be snapped up by anybody better than us. The striking department is the big worry. Chadders will play 20ish games due to recurring injuries and get half a dozen goals and feeney will huff and puff all day but be lucky to get more than half a dozen either. They are simply nor good enough as first picks in a promotion challenging team. Cowan Hall plays wide as well so I think 2 strikers are needed better than we have and one good attacking midfielder to transform us from a current mid table outfit to a team challenging near the top. |

| Jon Parkin and Damian Johnson both join Fleetwood, yet we have a competitive budget burning a hole in Fletchers pocket and nothing.
Fleetwood have also made an approach for David Healey. Their ticket prices must average around £50 as they struggle to get more than 3k through the turnstiles! |

Weird innit.............. this sustainable progress and endless bucket rattling ? Call me a cynic if you like but from what I've heard from others and with my own ears/eyes, our additional problem is the manager and his staff themselves. The club has the 'hooked' 5/6 k support but how on earth do they imagine persuading more punters through the turnstyles with the the lack of cash backed ambition from the boardroom and the almost certain to be, ponderous football on offer ? If we don't attract the calibre of player necessary to play with a bit of pace and style, even the backs to the wall siege mentality of last year will become tiresome to all but the dullest Avivas. I mean, who's goin Fleetwood to hang on for a scoreless draw ? |

| If Fleetwood go up this season again, it will show how easy it is, if you dip your hand into your pocket and make 3 or 4 decent signings.
PCH may well turn out to be an inspired first signing, but he can't do it by himself, and if he creates loads of chances, I doubt whether Feeney and Chadwick are good enough to convert them all.
Yes it's still only mid June but any new players will need to be familiar with the surroundings and new team mates, so we need to get some players snapped up before it's too late. I still have this horrible feeling that Mr Brent is going to say Carl Fletcher has made 6 signings which is enough, when 5 of them are the players we already had last season. |

| Prepare for the following...
Players don't want to come here. Players want to be near their families. Players like to be near the lights of the West End. The fans don't back the club so the club hasn't the money to bring players here. There is no airport. The train times are crap.

And Mr Brent is spending his time (not money) on building an ice ring, cinema, hotel with food outlet and an underground chargeable car park under the ice ring, all this in the higher home park car park |

Bliimey TGWU that was quick, I didnt even hear a planning application go in:) I hate to disillusion you but Argyle is not the B all and end all of his business life, Ive heard it said it s probably the smallest part of his portfolio. I note you miss out the building of the new Grandstand which (I'm guessing) will be built at the same time as the other facilities you mention. He always made it clear he would not be splashing the cash in an unsustainable way. It is clear the new Stand and other measures to increase income are his pathway to sustainability. It is perfectly fine to have a good old moan, lets face it we all do and sometimes feel better for doing it, but his basic position I can't see changing. That is not to say the squad will not be improved, there is a commitment to do so and I still think there ewill be a pleasant surprise in store. Like Jock, I want the new signings as quickly as possible but I dont think CF is sitting around working out how best to tee off ATD readers. |

So, with Argyle in mind, if I were an up and coming footballer, would I be banging at the door of a football club owned by a rugby union-centric public school boy with no penchant to spend on football at all, and being influenced by a bunch of non walleted low/middle manager type local wannabes that will be spouting classic nonsense.... imagine having to listen with glassy eyes and nod to that lot after every game. I would imagine Argyle would be ordinarily a club to go for in those low leagues, but would assume it is a club to avoid for the time being. All this and a manager like Fletch. What more do you want people ? ! |

| Dear old Tony, he loves a squire.... any squire... force of habit I guess.
Just one thing here, amongst many, picked at random. Part of the nationwide park policy has always been 'free at the point of access'.... hence free car parking That principle was first attacked by the profiteering Todd/gardner/campbell axis of money and it wouldn't surprise me one jot if the next bunch of money men including the latest upper Home Park 'owner' or 'leisure managers' try it on also. What is the point of having 'cheap', free leisure facilities in a park, when people can't access them without paying to park their car ? ... people don't pay to park at Saltram House, or at Asda to shop. We're talking a hard won civic park here, not some High Street that has always set a toll to coin more for themselves. There's a deep principle here that is bound up with the area action plan.. there will always be people out to steal valuable public assets ... Brenty could well be the next character, under the smokescreen of lilt and community rhyme. |
