| Not interested. MODS - Please sanction. It is against the rules of this site this week to discuss anything of substance to do with Plymouth Argyle. When will they ever learn - there's always more important things than football you know. |

| Looks like a large proportion of the same squad as last season then! I hope we make some exciting signings soon or it will be same old same old. |

| Indeed Jock. Every closed season has it's own feel. I remember the last season Holloway was here, and my own calculations with the players on board and the likes of Hayles having bedded in, was an obvious upper for all concerned, including the players themselves, which is where it counts. We all knew, the club knew, that it was to be an entertaining season... we were going to be contenders. Since Holloway then lost the plot along wth the owners, every season has come around before Argyle have even got out of bed, with the almost predictable consequence. To have received only 2 relegations in those 3 years is almost a miracle. Getting out of bed is one thing, but no matter how early we do it this next season, doing it with the same shower with little change of underwear is asking for trouble... only the Purse and Blanchard comnbination with Wotton sitting in front of them has a feel of 'half decent'. They haven't even got the 'backs to the wall' 'brothers in arms' nonsense to motivate themselves next seaon. I sense a year of 'consolidation' in L2 Could be a bit of a Kemp, and while the youngsters might not know what that means, I do. It may also be ok for those that are in work at the club plying their trade for fairly good recompence, but it sure as hell doesn't ring my 'investment' bell. Think I'll go surfing until James gets the bug. |

Trust in Fletcher Feeney should be paid a basic £150 a week with a £1000 bonus for every goal he scores and £500 for an assist. In fact so should Chadwick. Might see the net bulge a bit more. |

| Got to say that on the face of it this doesn't look good. Given that our form wasn't particularly great even after we got our full squad together, the fact that we are trying to resign 5 of the 6 players whose contracts are up doesn't suggest that we are going to be doing that much better next season (Johnson doesn't count as he never played for us last season). Surely we must be able to pick up players better than Feeney and Williams on a free somewhere. Can't as it stands see the benefit of resigning them.
I suppose Lennox and Chenoweth can be classed as young players with potential, and probably aren't being paid that much anyway. Berry had a decent second half of the season by all accounts so it probably makes sense to keep him. |

| I don't agree with the manager deciding the retained list, there should be an election IMHO.That should sort things out in a smooth and serene way. |

I've always thought performance related pay would be a good idea in football. I know they already have appearence and goal / clean sheet bonuses and the like, but if their basic wage was much, much lower, and bonuses larger, then surely it would improve the squad? From back of a fag packet doodling, I reckon: 1. Players would train harder to get selected for matchday 2. Competition for places would improve - hence leading to players improving 3. Slackers would leave - or not sign in the first place. (MacLean!) 4. Working harder to get in that goal scoring position to bag the goal bonus 5. Working harder to improve delivery into the box to bag the assist bonus If you want the trappings of being a professional football, you are going to have to work extra hard. Of course, the flaw in my cunning plan is that no bugger will come here in the first place, when they can get a larger basic wage elsewhere. Still, in my head, it would work. I'll try it out on Football Manager first and report back my findings. |

| I don't mean it as a money saving method, I mean it as a method of getting mediocre players to work their whatnots off to improve. |

ummm its not next season yet,, TCM...it might just as well be though. If you add the players already under contract(Simon Walton,Paul Wotton,Connor Hourihane,Ladji Soukouna) to the ones that have been offered new contracts.I know they haven't signed them yet,but nobody wanted them last season so why would anyone suddenly want to sign them now.And what you get is the same team that finished last season. Now I know they kept us up.but in no way shape or form did that team look like a promotion side.So I cant get too excited with this news. |

| Feeney & Chadwick as our main strikeforce?
So potent that the physio will need to give them a rubdown with viagra rather than linament before every game.
Berry Williams etc., aren't they the ones who Reid had to recruit at the start of last season when their was no money to spend?
Whereas now that we've been "saved" by Brent it looks like a whole different ballgame financially and the club doesn't have to search around for bargain basement rubbish (only 'cos they're already here)
But then, Fletcher seems to have decided to build on the success of last season. |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] See what Pasoti are missing? Chadwick's sponsored by Supaglue and Feeney by the RSPCA because he couldn't hit a cows ass with a banjo. |

| Just to play devil's advocate you understand.........
Everyone on here knows that Feeney is not a catch it and hold striker with a lay off at the end. He was used or they tried to use him like that last season and his goals for count wasn't worth mentioning along with assists etc. He clearly is a striker who needs to run on to balls into the box and so on. Now, if we all know that then Fletcher must also have seen it. By retaining Feeney would that not suggest a different style is therefore on the cards and the bang it long and hope will not be the tactics as promised? Just a thought as an alternative possibility of course. |
