PostSubject: Changes in the Men & Women Football Staff    Changes in the Men & Women Football Staff EmptyFri Jun 28, 2024 10:37 am

With pre-season training just around the corner, the Argyle footballing staff has undergone a slight restructure, for both the men’s and women’s teams.

As already announced, new Head Coach Wayne Rooney will be supported by assistant manager Pete Shuttleworth; first-team coaches Kevin Nancekivell and Simon Ireland; and goalkeeping coach Darryl Flahavan.

Gareth Law, who was previously Head of Physiotherapy, moves to a role as Head of Performance. Connor Derbidge joins Argyle as Head of Sports Science, following stints as Strength and Conditioning Coach at Charlton Athletic and, prior to that, a similar role, alongside Gareth, at Exeter City.

Previously a short-term appointment, Richard Jones has returned as the permanent kit manager. Former FA and England kit manager Richard will be assisted by David Holt, who also has specific responsibility for the Academy.

On 1 July, the Argyle Women’s team will officially become part of the football club, and as part of this, Ryan Perks’ role will now be a full-time position, as Head Coach.

In addition, Argyle will be appointing a new Head of Women’s Football Operations, set to start on 8 July. This role will be the focal point for all off-field Women’s team activity, with Argyle Women’s Club Secretary Scott Cooksley transferring across from the Argyle Community Trust to support.

Argyle Director of Football Neil Dewsnip said: "We are all looking forward to getting under way for the pre-season campaign, and the changes to our staff team puts us in the best position to get ready for the season, come August.

"Gareth's knowledge, skill and attention to detail make him the perfect person to oversee the performance department, and the introduction of Connor gives us another high-quality sports scientist within the staff, who work so hard to get our players in the best condition possible.

"I am excited about what the future holds for our women's team. They will officially become part of the football club from 1 July; Ryan working full-time as Head Coach and being supported by an experienced Head of Operations underlines our commitment to the team."
