Plymouth Argyle captain Joe Edwards is a summer transfer target for Bristol Rovers, it has been said by Bristol Live.
Plymouth Argyle have had Gloucester-born Edwards on the books since the summer of 2019, bringing him in on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract at Walsall.
Since then, the versatile 33-year-old has played 223 times for the Pilgrims, chipping in with 23 goals and eight assists in the process.
He’s played all over for the Home Park outfit, operating as a wing-back, full-back and central midfielder in the main.
Edwards is currently under contract at the club until 2025, though there is an agreement in place for him to continue at the club as a coach too.
Now though, the Plymouth Argyle skipper is drawing admiring glances from elsewhere.
After failing with a January swoop, Bristol Live reports that League One side Bristol Rovers remain keen on Edwards. They have maintained their interest and while the Gas want to focus on signing younger players, they are aware of the need for experience and leadership too.
Edwards, who has played over 500 career games and captained former club Yeovil and now Plymouth, would offer just that.
