New 5-year plan: Top 6 championship club Empty

The club have announced a new '5-year plan'.

‘To be a sustainable top six Championship club within five years, with Premier League aspirations.’

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

There are 7 values and 5 pillars - lots of corporate speak with little in the way of concrete plans. However:

“To achieve our mission, we need to ensure that our resources are on a level with those of the clubs with whom we are competing. That means continuing investment in infrastructure, human resources, and players. Although we will seek to broaden and strengthen our shareholder base, I will continue as a major shareholder and as Chairman."

Anyone remember when the supporters were promised first division football in 5 years?

Think it was made in 1966,must have been a misprint.

Anyway, enough of disillusioned and melancholic ramblings-good to see the owner aiming his aspirations a bit higher than in previous public statements but any chance of fulfilling the said ambitions will surely rest on Argyle staying in the division this season. Hopefully the manager will be backed in January because the squad as it stands is unlikely to be good enough to retain status especially when injuries and suspensions kick in even more so than at present. Argyle need to ensure that their nose is in the trough when it comes to getting a share of the increased TV money next year and a couple of good signings would go some way towards cementing a base from which Argyle could launch a realistic attempt to reach for the stars.

Cynical but [paradoxically] naively hopeful

It's going to take one helluva lot of investment both in the team and in the ground to be a top 6 Championship club with Premier League aspirations. A lot more than Hallett and the current set up could possibly even contemplate. And top 6 looks light years away with relegation a likely outcome this season.

i agree, if this 5 year plan has any legs beyond staying in this league and being established than we will need more investors and more funds invested both on and off the field with bigger and more revenue streams coming in with good budget management so we don't repeat the mistakes of last time. We are upgrading the training facilities both for the first team and academy/womens so we are making a start there.

Oh and build the corners so we can sell more tickets. fwiw we could upgrade the horseshoe as its starting to look tired inside and out.

Planning somethink …well I hope it’s putting there hand in there pocket for a striker & a centre back and a marauding attacking midfielder in the jan window if they wanna stay up let alone a 5 year plan cos if we do go down it will take a lot longer than 5 years to come back up if ever …that’s why it’s the up most importance to invest come Jan in the team cos otherwise they can kiss there 5 plan goodbye we get relegated
