- Scarr commits future to Argyle and pens two-year contract
Argyle defender Dan Scarr has committed his future to the club by signing a new two-year contract.
With his contract due to expire this summer, Scarr has agreed fresh terms with the Pilgrims ahead of a return to the Sky Bet Championship and will stay at Home Park until at least the summer of 2025.
The 28-year-old was an integral part of Steven Schumacher’s title winning side last season making 32 appearances, with 30 starts, also contributing two vital goals.
Having started his career in non-league at Redditch United and Stourbridge, the Bromsgrove-born defender worked his way up the footballing pyramid before joining Argyle in 2021 and has since gone on to make 67 appearances for the Club.
A focal point of Argyle’s defence, Manager Schumacher is delighted to see Scarr commit to the Pilgrims for the next two seasons, commenting: “I am really pleased that Dan has signed for another two years as he is an integral part of what we are trying to achieve.
“He is a big, strong defender and is equally good with the ball at his feet which is so important to the way we like to play football. The fans saw last year just how important he was, and I am sure they are as excited as I am to see him running out at Home Park again.”
Having joined Birmingham City when they were in the Championship, Scarr never featured during his time in the Midlands but will deservedly make his debut in the second-tier next season.
Director of Football Neil Dewsnip believes it is a testament to Scarr’s character and added: “Dan has worked his way up the football ladder having played in non-league, League Two and League One.
“He has become important to our squad, and we believe he will make an immediate impact in the Championship next season. He works so hard and is always trying to improve which is exactly the character we want as part of the group moving forward.
“Following the announcement of Ryan Hardie on Thursday, we are delighted to tie down two key members of the squad already.”
Dan Scarr will have his Home and Away shirts sponsored by the McGrath Family and C&D Electrical respectively. |

| im little supprised its only a 2 year deal to be honest. He'll only be 30 by the end of that contract so i would have thought the club would have offered him an option of a 12 month extension to the deal he signed. |
