everything i dislike about modern commentators stems from them trying to copy and/or out do him. I'll never forget the game England played at the japan world cup first thing in the morning and almost every forth word he uttered started a breakfast pun which he did the whole game.

Grew up with John Motson's commentry. It was always Motty for the big occasion FA Cup finals etc. RIP
