| Sadly, it looks like Sparksy's fight with the big C has taken a turn for the worse (as posted by himself on Twitter). He's being transfered to St Lukes.
I'm sure all our thoughts are with him at this most difficult of times.

| What a bummer, I know he wasn't everybody's cup of tea but I liked his unashamed partisan attitude to Argyle and he had an absolutely encyclopedic knowledge of Argyles history. I hope his journey is a smooth one, thoughts are with him and his family. |

| Very sad to hear, sounds like its spread and he's going to try and make the most of what time he has left. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| Can't be hypocritical and say he was my favourite commentator but he is Argyle through and through, as was his father before him. Horrible news to hear, hope the next period of time is as good as it could possibly be for him. |

im the same concerning his commentary style making it sound like a corner was a near miss at goal and ignoring lots of the action but there was no denying his commitment and love for the club. |

| Unashamedly partisan. Hopelessly biased on his match commentaries. But very few people could match his enthusiasm for all things Argyle. It would be amazing if he could see us promoted before his time is up. |

| Sad news - wish him all the best. I was always a fan of Gordon Sparks' commentary and couldn't understand why some others weren't but each to their own. Even when his over excitement made it sound like Argo had scored when they hadn't. |

| That's what made him great Freathy I agree. I'd started a new job for the QPR game which meant I couldn't go. Had Sparksy on the radio though which was the next best thing to being there. I'll never forget the '2 nil Argyle are up!!'. |

Given the circumstances i wont explain why i didnt like his style of commentary other than what i put earlier but the fact he would make people believe we where better than we were and how a shot no where near the goal was a close call where all to frequent to me especially when i would be at the game with the comms on and know hes embellishing what hes seeing. |

| Really? I was only thinking yesterday how much better he would have been than the i-follow comms team, who sounded like they were commentating a 0 0 bore draw, no more Whittakerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!! at 300 decibels. RIP mate. |
