| So, as Freathy is rather vague about what more he wants from Argyle, I thought I'd open out the question a bit.
What does anyone think the Club could or should do better, in order to advance up the League and be "sustainable"? If it's more money, please suggest how much and from where.
My view is that we need a fully committed management team (that lives in the area) that are here for the long term and we (Board and fans) need to stick by them through thick and thin-such as a run of bad results or even a relegation.
Could also do with taking a lesson from that lot up at the Cat & Fiddle about recruiting and developing local talent. I know things are getting better on this front but ECFC really are putting us to shame on this, as well as making themselves sustainable. I'd rather see our young players given a chance in our first team than being farmed out to lower league teams where the standard of play is not going to improve them.
Any other thoughts? |

| Freathy’s only definite about posting negativity for effect.
All the other points you make i think the club are doing in various stages of progression, in my view there’s no need for any hysteria, however bringing more funding into the club will be welcome, such a pity we’ve not been able to make use of the corporate facilities this last 2 years. We may scrape into play offs but I don’t see a promotion this season. The management team didn’t let in those last minute goals, the players did that by switching off, it happens, as we saw by the smallest player on the pitch beating their defender with a header to score our second, so I’m comfortable with the management team at the moment |

| How much is enough? We could spend millions and get nowhere. It depends on the players recruited, the manager, the coaches, and the all of the backroom staff.
We don't have the biggest budget in this league, but it's already been proved that with the right plan in place this club can progress. I really don't think you have to spend big to get out of L2 and L1.
It's when you get to the Championship you need to up the investment. |

Who knows what enough ? but I’m a bit with you on this, let’s get there and then have the problem how to stay because the Janner fan as fickle as they are, if we’re on a losing streak in the championship then we know what’ll happen |

| I've gone on the record before to say that I don't buy into Hallets sustainable CCC club soundbites, sure we can get there with the current set up but as Graiser says staying there takes serious cash. Whether I would want an Abramovich to buy us and a Premiership place I'm not sure that there is a lot of Kudos in that and the prem just makes me nauseous with their ridiculous budgets and wages. I would love us get and hold onto a Vardy type player and do a Liecester but I think the CCC is a great league it would be nice to just dip our toes in the top league before I curl mine up. Trouble is with the prem if ever we got there every single Cornish Manure and Chelski fan would be buying all the tickets up. |

Who knows what enough ? but I’m a bit with you on this, let’s get there and then have the problem how to stay because the Janner fan as fickle as they are, if we’re on a losing streak in the championship then we know what’ll happen Janners have been fickle in the past because the club has dismally failed to build on a decent enough crowd base in the championship. A public which has never been given top level success to build the father-son/daughter generational support a la Southampton, Coventry, Norwich etc is not going to be impressed with just avoiding relegation for two seasons and will soon be lost exactly as it was last time or indeed the time before. I keep reading on another site about fans not learning the lesson from last time as regards spending-of course nobody would want the lunatic mismanagement that took place from the return of Sturrock until administration but if the club had been adequately prepared in the first place to make an impact in the championship then that situation would never have arisen-if Holloway or Pulis had known that proper backing and ambition was there, who knows where the club would have ended up. It isn't necessary for a club to get 20000+ gates for championship survival in any case, as is currently being proved by Luton,Millwall,Blackpool,Preston etc but there's no doubt that for further progress to be made, then adequate funding is needed as indeed Simon Hallett has stated in public. Hopefully the appropriate steps are being taken behind the scenes to at least try to give the club a chance to progress to the level that some of us think is attainable. |
