Chinese Virus May Have Infected Hundreds

BBC - Coronavirus: Dutch shocked to be EU vaccination stragglers. The Dutch government has come in for stinging criticism. One former public health director, Roel Coutinho, warned the country's "shameful" vaccination strategy was "going to cost lives".

During an emergency debate in parliament, opposition politicians called the approach "chaotic and confusing".

"Striking mismanagement by government," was the assessment of Tim, a doctor in general practice here. "We've almost had a year to plan ahead, arrange logistics and update software. But it's all coming down to the last moment."

"Embarrassing," lamented Arjen Joosse, a Dutch oncologist. "Too slow in preparation and wrong choices."


One of the main delays was caused by an IT system which needed to be upgraded to allow local health authorities to track appointments and check which vaccine each patient has received.


Tim, the Dutch GP (he declined to give his full name), told me: "We're lacking a crisis commander in what is essentially a war-like situation".

Alan Wouda, a 23-year old student, said the Dutch were "blinded by our nuchterheid (sobriety) - too stubborn to acknowledge we made mistakes".

Another student, Joelle Hibbel, asked "is it possible to be baffled and raging with anger at the same time?"

"That's how I feel about how the Dutch government is handling the pandemic in general and the vaccination process in particular."

Government takes responsibility for it's actions shocker, no chance of that happening here.

Watched the totally cringeworthy Last Leg last night which really isn't funny at all anymore. Adam Hills? was ranting about the government blaming people not following the rules causing the spread of Covid then go on to launch their own campaign called "don't be a Dick" to shame those very same people the Government are talking about. I haven't seen anywhere even once the government saying that the majority are not following the rules?

A mate of mine got "briefed" by a Covid denier in Plymouth the other day, "you know Covid isn't real don't you?" Really says me mate trying not to get involved to which the guy says "and if you do get it you can cure yourself by eating Lemon Peel".

Father in law received his vaccination letter this morning. Went online to book, very quick, very easy and gave a choice of date and time when to have it. It also gave a date and choice of time for the second one. The vaccination centre is 1 mile away. I take him this Tuesday evening.

Has the Chinese PM let in the WHO yet? I thought I read a team of WHO investigator's had been barred from entering the country.

They went in the other day but 2 stayed behind because they were showing symptoms of Covid.

Yep, WHO investigating team are allowed to conduct research.

Younger patients now in hospital with bad covid illness, much worse than first wave.

Perhaps this news will convince the young to adhere to the rules ?

Info on the new variant of covid-19 in Brazil

walked home today from doing my shopping for the roast mainly and few other things and jesus wept town was packed! the hoe was again packed out with people doing whatever not social distancing at all and what made me laugh was seeing sea swimmers out in the sound and paddle boarders.

And it wasn't just young people it was old too and very few people wearing even a mask. When i was paying for my shopping there was a swilly bhey giving it large to the security guard about him not being allowed in as he wasn't wearing a mask nor had those exemption lanyards you can buy off amazon.

Is it any wonder we keep having lockdowns when so many janners are not using caution in public around strangers for all they know have the virus and spreading it.
