| Bristol Rovers have confirmed the departure of manager Ben Garner after Saturday's 4-1 defeat to Fleetwood Town.
Garner has been relieved of his duties with Rovers with the Gas 18th in League One, three points clear of the relegation zone.
Tommy Widdrington has been placed in caretaker charge.
Garner replaced Graham Coughlan in December, but only won five league games across his 11 months in charge.
A statement from a club spokesman thanked Garner for his efforts.
"Tommy Widdrington will be taking charge of first-team duties on a temporary basis, while the Club commences the process of appointing a new Manager.

Zero chance of them attracting Monk, for me. And despite ticking a box, Campbell simply hasn’t done anything to justify him getting that gig. |

| Bristol has a population of 668,000 so more than twice as big as Plymouth. I think that due to Cities success compared to the Gas they have picked up quite a few floaters but nearly everybody I know from Bristol are Gas heads although a lot of them like Argyle fans are a bit fickle and drop away from actual support during the lean years. If they had a few years in the CCC with a decent stadium they could easily raise more fans a season than we do. |

they can pull in more fans than us all they like doesnt mean anything on the pitch and interms of them being classed a big club to which they arent nor ever will be. Bristol City will always be the bigger of the two and they are poised to breaking into the premiership in the next few years. |

Despite City and their obvious dominace at the moment the point stands that Rovers are easily as big a club as Argyle and could easily eclipse us if they had a better ground. |

| Not sure how up to date this is now, but a few years back I think Argyle had played more league games against Rovers than any other team. That would point to us as being historically similar sized clubs. |

| Well chaps! Look who they've sacked -the annointed one. Whilst it comes as little surprise, his gnomic utterings have tended to be even more obscure than those in his last 12 months at City -and he persisted in his habit of blaming anybody but himself -it's only part of the problems that the owners at Bristol Rovers appear to have. They seem determined to always look for quick fixes without spending any appreciable money whilst racking up 'failed' managers at a rate only recently achieved by the Oldham owners |

Obviously, although I hate to agree with you, you may be right! What Perryman eventually seems to have found difficult was the ownership model at City. He was very clearly used to making and implementing decisions on own, and found the levels of management difficult to deal with - especially as he would have said that most of them knew nothing about running a football club. On the other hand, Russell & Lewis said "Amateurs can't run football clubs" - and yet 18 years later they are! Incidentally, City related - the Club have paid back to £830k they owed the Trust, this week, so expect some further financial action from the Trust in the next few months. |
