| Government 'to launch seat out to help out' scheme for live sport and theatre It could mean that people with tickets for football matches or plays could be tested in advance and then chased up a few days after the event
Sports fans and theatre lovers could watch events without social distancing within weeks under plans being accelerated by ministers with the backing of Boris Johnson.
The Prime Minister and Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden last week ordered officials to “move at extreme pace” to encourage crowds back into large venues, according to reports.
Sports venues and theatres would be key beneficiaries of the Government's 'Operation Moonshot' programme to ramp up testing to millions of people every day.
It could mean that people with tickets for football matches or plays could be tested in advance and then chased up a few days after the event.
Under the Government's roadmap plan to ease lockdown restrictions, November 1 is the first date on which social distancing could be lifted.
But sources told the Sunday Times the PM wanted to speed up the plan - despite concern that it could lead to an uptick in cases of coronavirus.
"Rapid testing is seen as the thing that can unlock the issue of getting audiences back. There have been meetings this week.
Direction has been given at a very senior level to work at extreme pace on this. The PM is keen on making rapid progress," they said.
Large sports venues need to be at least 60% full for it to be financially viable to bring back fans.
Pre-season friendlies - including a friendly between Brighton and Chelsea have seen clubs bring fans back in with social distancing measures.
The scheme could be offering cut-price tickets to live sport and theatre in a bid to save the ailing events industry, according to reports.
The team behind the “eat out to help out” restaurant scheme has been reformed to draw up a “seat out to help out” plan to persuade people to attend events once the restrictions are lifted. |

thats still very good for them when you consider how poorly they are covered along with Albion and Raiders too by the herald and local bbc/itv outlets they have to heavily rely on social media for its PR, its not bad at all. |

| 1) Open grounds fully now. 2) Open up all airports and air travel. 3) Fook it why not gigs and cinemas whilst we're at it? 4) Blame Boris for the rise in infections. |

Would that be the 6000 new infections in the UK in the last 48 hours perhaps.....expect a U turn by Thursday U turn or another lockdown? Here's an analysis piece by Beeb on what the deputy chief medical officer said today, Prof Jonathan Van Tam was known for his plain speaking at Downing Street press conferences earlier in the pandemic. Now England's deputy chief medical officer has once again come out with a blunt warning about the spread of the virus. Put simply, he believes there's been a significant and concerning change in recent days. No longer is this all about local outbreaks - instead, in his view, there is now a general spread of the disease in many parts of the country. He suggests social distancing has broken down for some parts of society and points to rising case numbers amongst 17 to 21-year-olds. That does not mean hospital admissions, currently relatively low, will definitely rise. But Prof Van Tam thinks that is very possible. He implied the next week would be critical as officials and ministers studied the emerging data. This is a wake-up call for the public to get real about social distancing, from a medical leader who is clearly worried. |

I don’t think there’s any doubt whatsoever that our 2nd wave is building up a head of steam. And that’s before all the schools and Uni’s get two or three full weeks to spread the virus around. France was where we are now, a month ago. On Saturday they recorded nearly 9,000 new infections in one day. It’s coming again. Sadly. |

| Boris won the election, Boris toppled the red wall, why not support the party that wins instead of the one that keeps losing? |

I think some of us saw what an even bigger dickwad Corbyn and the rest of his front bench was, that fecking crowd certainly cleared the shit from my eyes. |

Reg they wont lose face over this utterly catastrophic Government and admit it openly. Burying the heads in a pariah state have never seen such stupidity and arrogance. When their argument centres around claiming would Corbyn have been any better you know they have absolutely nothing left. Blind idiocy.... |

| Maybe harve would appreciate us doing a crowd funding for him.....so he can buy a one way ticket to maybe Russia or China....two countries with stable authoritarian governments who have ways of sorting out opposition comments....or just a weekend break to Belarus to see how their government treats opposition.....maybe in the end dear old Boris might not seem so bad....at least we do allow other points of view in this country.....Hong Kong also used to....but of course their not part of the commonwealth anymore......just be careful what you wish for.
PS.....I'll start things off with £10 in the kitty. |
