| Has anybody else noticed the clarity and sheer number of stars at night with no planes flying. Last night at my place was unbelievable I've not seen the like of for years. Theres no moon which is great but the light pollution bounces back off the smog which normally makes it worse. Anyway check it out. |

What planet was very low this morning at around 5.15am just as I could see glow of dawn starting to come. ?? So imagine you were stood on the Hoe looking towards the breakwater and it would be around 20.00 on a clockface Or is that Venus as well ?? |

Or is that Venus as well ?? That will be Venus, very little else is bright enough to be seen in daylight hours |

All of it was like a bad sci fi movie, deserted roads police road blocks Colombo airport full of soldiers with weapons and spray packs. Other then two outbound flights place was deserted, shooed through at record speed. Heathrow was like a ghost town planes parked up everywhere and two flights in whilst we were there. Whisked through passports, no customs, hardly any airport staff it was like a ghost town. Very weird I was glad to get out of there. |

Bright pinpoint of light, which appears to be moving. Not much of excitement really |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Seadog as I said my house out the back is directly in a straight line with the Hoe and then the breakwater. So kinda in Staddon heights direction with Bovisand behind. Really low it was |

| I remember talking to an Bedouin fellow in Morrocco and he was telling me how they navigate through the desert by stars and they tell stores about a journey and use the names of the stars as characters. It's like a solar story map. |

| Look at the Great Bear, Plough, the top two stars point to the North Star.
Spookily this star does not move, only slightly describing a small circle, and is always due North of your position.
Orion's belt points to the brightest star, Sirius. _______________________________________ COYG!

I know absolutely nothing about Astronomy but that Jupiter was clearly visible again at 6.15 this morning (later because of clocks change obviously) How long does it stay in that same rough position ?? Or is it always there lol. I really have no idea on Astronomy! |

| It will be there for a while now, slowly moving a wee bit every day. An explanation of planetary movement here with regard to Venus which is bright as fook at the mo to the West every evening. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] _______________________________________ COYG!
