| Today,s news from Asian
Coronavirus: Asian nations face second wave of imported cases
South Korea, China and Singapore are among the Asian countries facing a second coronavirus wave, spurred by people importing it from outside.
China, where the virus first emerged, confirmed it had no new domestic cases on Wednesday, for the first time since the outbreak began, a major milestone.
But it reported 34 new cases among people recently returned to China.
Singapore also reported 47 new cases, of which 33 were imported - 30 of them returned Singapore residents.
South Korea saw a jump in new cases on Thursday with 152, though it is not clear how many were imported.
A new cluster there is centred on a nursing home in Daegu, where 74 patients have tested positive. |

| I think the authorities have given the end of June date so they don't have to make difficult decisions until they are absolutely forced too. In my opinion after that date the competition will lose its integrity.
What happens to players out of contract? what happens to loan players? Liverpool being 25 points clear has actually caused the problem here. I bet if it was close the season would have been cancelled already. |

The contract situations will be a major problem and not just for football. on the liverpool front UEFA has already stated they won't be declared champions or any team in top spots in other leagues. |

| Extended Indefinitely - which i guess means they will complete this season before moving forward.
This could shift the entire football calendar for years to come. Now could be the time align the football calendar to deal with the farcical world cup coming up being played in December. |

| The FA are governors of the English game, UEFA might have a say, doesn’t mean the Premier league has to listen to them. In any case they havent said anything of the sort. This is the quote which has been spun by the press in to Mean something else which you’ve swallowed hook line and sinker. 'I've seen and heard some again fake news that UEFA will advise leagues to finish the championships now and decide that the winners are the ones who are number one now. 'I can say that it's not true. Our goal is to finish the leagues and we didn't recommend anything like that to any association or league.' [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| Here’s some more on the publication of the scientific evidence that has been supporting the government’s response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Among the guidance laid out by the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies SAGE, is that social distancing measures should be kept in place for up to a year.
“It was agreed that a policy of alternating between periods of more and less strict social distancing measures could plausibly be effective at keeping the number of critical care cases within capacity. These would need to be in place for at least most of a year,” the report said.

| The aim of virtually all football clubs beyond a few chancers is to complete the season by the end of the football calendar.
If as likely they'll be social distancing in place until December, they may as well resume competitions in Jan 2021. Simpy no other sensible way to go about it. |

| The one consistent theme running thru all this, is that with each few days that pass, the estimates of how long it will continue, gets longer, and longer, and longer. |

He posts more about golf than football these days and the day can't be far off when he sacks it for good |

| Players, or at least top level players are considering finishing the season behind closed doors. Its less of a problem in the Premier League as they only make 1/7 of their income off gate receipts and part of that can be offset by not needing catering, police, stewards, etc.
I don't know how this would work further down the pyramid. |

I don't know how this would work further down the pyramid. much like with rugby the fa dont give a shit about the lower leagues so they would be happy to end the season for them while pushing hard for the prem to continue due to the money involved tv wise. |

| The only decision that can be made is to postpone football matches until the outbreak is under control and no one knows how long that will be. Once that time is agreed upon you can restart the season as it left off. It's going to be a bit of an inconvenience to say the least. |
