- We ought to be at a big advantage compared to Italy Spain Germany and France, because being a fortnight or so behind them in the cycle of cases, we should be able to look and learn from what they are doing, and then copy what seems to work. From what I’ve seen and heard though from people in these countries, their lockdowns are actually stringently being enforced, unlike home here.
Plymouth and Derriford in particular is holding up well at the minute in comparison to other cities. It is definitely good for our city and region that while our cases are relatively low, we benefited massively from countrywide lockdown. In other cities most notably London, lockdown was a fortnight too late because the horse had already bolted on their infection rate.
If I were a betting man I’d say the South West could have a far bigger problem if/when countrywide lockdown is lifted and we get an influx of infected holidaymakers in the summer. . Also I'd be amazed if any of us were going to Aisa or even Europe before this time next year. Agreed and I mentioned elsewhere I had pencilled in even later at Autumn 2021 |

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]These cnuts and everyone else like them should be fcking branded with red hot pokers, then when they arrive at hospitals wanting treatment, they should be directed to the absolute back of the queue. I’m not even joking. In Italy and now parts of Spain doctors are having to choose who has a chance to live and who will definitely die, because of lack of ventilators. Our police should put EVERY lockdown breaker like those cnuts on a database, then when it comes to the crunch at a hospital, they die. |

The Boris story sort of sums up the reporting over the outbreak, nearly 8000 people dead in Britain = serious. PM who ignored all his own advice and went around shaking hands with everybody gets ill = fookin serious. Personally I hink he's going to be off work for at least a month one thing that has been missing is a video of the PM in his hospital bed running the country by Skype and that's because he's simply too ill to carry it off meaning we are without a PM. At least he isn't a key worker. |

There are loads of articles dated around the middle to end of March notably the Italians asking why the fook aren't we acting after seeing what happened to Italy when they didn't react in time? We even had the chief Italian health minister on the BEEB asking the question weeks ago. The simple facts are that we are two weeks behind Italy and had time to react before we did. Compare the figures for Covid in the South West compared to London. Their outbreak would mirror ours if they had locked down sooner. The biggest mistake made was announcing there was going to be a lockdown in a few days which saw every Tom dick and Harry spending their last night of freedom in the pubs and partying which is why it's so bad there now. As I've said fook all will happen to Johnson but we need to learn the lessons. |

I totally agree on the twats that think the rules don't apply to them. For me, if I’m going to beat the government it would be for the ill-thought presumption that everyone in the U.K. would obey the rules. The rules were disobeyed en masse in Italy in the early days and weeks. Quite how with a WAY SOFTER lockdown approach, the powers that be thought we’d do better numbers-wise, is the biggest head scratcher. But yeah, there are way too many people that get all ‘Mary Whitehouse’ when there’s any talk of their civil liberties being encroached upon. Selfish cnuts. |

| FWIW New York followed our softly softly approach, Trump announced he was going to lock it down The NY Mayor went mental so Trump immediately backpedalled and now they have the biggest outbreak in the world. I was aghast when I heard the USA was shutting down all air travel except for the UK which was just starting to have cases. Mistakes have been made, big ones and most of the big outbreaks have come from lockdowns not being implemented quick enough. Whilst the behaviour of some of the public is bordering on idiotic the facts would point to them only partly to blame. |

Not correct. Cuomo, the Governor of NY ordered the state to be 'shutdown' on March 22nd. NY had been shut down for six days before Trump announced he was 'maybe' going to "Quarantine" New York on March 28th. Shutdown and Quarantine are two different things entirely. FYI.. California has a population twice that of NY state. A little under 40 million compared to a nudge over 20 mill. NY has 160,000 cases of covid19, with 7000 deaths. California has 20 thousand cases with 552 deaths. California shut down on March 20th, just two days before NY. The date of New York's lockdown has little to do with its massive problem in dealing with the outbreak. |

Or how about those scenes in Parliament when the Tories actually celebrated the denial of a pay rise to the nurses. This Government is fvcking evil Boris is evil and his day will come. Karma always gets them in the end and nearly already did. When he's discharged he'll back in his fridge indefinately hiding from the likes of Andrew Neil and Piers Morgan He's responsible for the deaths of 1000s. The final decision is his no matter what the scientific advice suggests. Did anyone see that bumbling fool Hancock at 5pm yesterday. Its just utterly frightening that these arse clowns have got their finger on the nuclear button What the country would give to have Theresa May running the show now |
