physio Paul Atkinson had parted company from Argyle

And a new man marches in

FORMER Liverpool and England Under-21 physio Dave Galley will be on the bag for the Pilgrims when they visit Cambridge United on Saturday.

Galley, 57, was called up as a temporary measure by Argyle for their Emirates FA Cup tie against Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium after former physio Paul Atkinson had parted company with the club earlier in the week.

Galley has worked extensively in football, including stints as Nottingham Forest’s Head of Medicine and Sports Science and Head Physio at Sunderland.

While at Liverpool between 1999-2005, he and club doctor Mark Waller famously diagnosed the seriousness of manager Gérard Houllier's chest pains during the half-time interval of a game against Leeds United, which eventually led to an emergency operation on Houllier's heart, saving the Frenchman’s life.

He was with the England Under-21s for 19 years until 2013 and has since worked with the nation’s Under-20s side, including during their 2017 World Cup win in South Korea.

has it been said anywhere as to why Paul left?

Dave Galley here on a temp basis suggests to me it was very sudden.

Certainly Jon Back has caused more disharmony amongst Argyle fans than Newell has ever achieved

I think Bungo still has some measurable way to go before he's even in the same league as Nool.

It's like comparing apples and oranges...

They don't operate in the same spheres.
