Ryan Lowe has no intention of trying different tactics to get Plymouth Argyle back on track after their poor recent results.

The Pilgrims’ boss believes hard work on the training ground will eventually see his side click into gear.

Lowe has adopted a play-out-from-the-back philosophy using a 3-5-2 formation since being appointed as Argyle manager.

Even the club’s under-14s are now playing that way because the 41-year-old has such conviction it is the way to play.

So Argyle’s run of five League Two games without a win is not going to change that.

Lowe knows his side must be better in both penalty areas by converting more of the chances they create and not conceding so many goals from crosses into their box.

He said: “We will never rip anything up in terms of our philosophy and the style of play.

“You have seen it’s working, it’s just that last little bit in both boxes that’s really hurting us at the moment.”

Argyle have kept only three clean sheets in 10 league games this season, and won each of them.

Lowe said: “We are not finding the net on a regular basis and we are not keeping the ball out of the net on a regular basis, which is more worrying.

“You always say ‘If you can’t score, keep the back door shut’ and we are not doing that at the moment.”

Injuries have not helped Lowe with a number of players being sidelined for periods of time already this season

t has been especially problematic for him up front, where strikers Byron Moore, Dom Telford and Zak Rudden are all on the casualty list.

Another forward, Joel Grant, has only recently returned from a torn hamstring.

Lowe, who led Bury to League Two promotion last term as runners-up to Lincoln City, said: “I don’t want to be known for making changes week in week out.

The majority of last season we stuck with a team, we stuck with the plan, which we will always stick to.

“This season I seem to be swapping and changing because of injuries and I don’t want to be doing it.

“I will address that side of it very quickly and hopefully we can get it right.”

theres also a poll on the herald

Should Ryan Lowe change Argyle's play-out-from-the-back style of play?

No, he should stick to his principles 62%
Yes, it is not working, it is time for a change 6%
Leave it for a while and see whether the results pick up 32%

Theres a fine line between staying true to your beliefs and being pigheaded. Worrying that he keeps referring back to what worked last season when its not working this season. Perhaps he needs to swallow his pride and admit a change may be needed. But has he got the self confidence to do so?

I've no problenm with Lowe keeping the formation, but there does need to be a plan B for when we are chasing the game. Playing the same style and down the left constantly is too predictable.

Teams seem to have no problem crossing into our box, 90% of our crosses are shit and don't beat the first man- there seems to be no thought, just get the ball into the box.

I've no problem with this,

All the moaning janners who expect things to change over night are kidding themselves,
Matey up the road took a year to get the scum into a team like they are atm,

its only been ten games have to give Lowe a chance getting on his back isn't helping,

Seems some are prepared/happy enough to right this season off under Lowe ...so we move on a season
And if things haven’t improved..how long more will people be prepared to give him then ?
