We were just so predictable which made the game quite manageable for Cheltenham. Attack down the left, Mcfadzean and Mayor interplay with either a Mcfadzean cross, from the byline, straight to a defender or a shot wide of goal. Even when we were 1-0 down with 5-10 minutes to go, we took off Cooper for Lolos- surely one of the CB's would have been better. Lowe seems to have this 'Adams like' pig-headed determination to play the same formation, despite it not working (it was the same at Northampton).

Aimson does not look much better than Canavan/ Wootton (although possibly he is not fully fit yet?), Telford looks decent but injury prone. Joel Grant is not a striker.

Despite the summer influx we need at least one CB and a decent striker, like a Maynard. Lowe wants our strikers to score 20 goals a season, half of them won't even score 2.

The ref was poor (not that we helped ourselves), and their [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] should have been red carded for 2 yellows (he was subbed at ht). I didn't have a good view of the possible Mayor penalty incident, but Mayor and McFadzean do go down fairly easily.

Ryan Lowe has demanded more ruthlessness from his Plymouth Argyle players after their latest League Two setback.

Lowe saw his side beaten 2-0 by Cheltenham Town at Home Park on Saturday, despite dominating the game in terms of possession and the amount of goalscoring chances created.

The Pilgrims have now gone five league games without a win and dropped to 14th position.

Lowe said: “What I don’t want to become is just a possession-based team that doesn’t win. It’s not going to happen.

“We have got to keep the goals out at one end and we have got to score goals the other end.

“I said the other night (after the 2-2 draw at Crawley Town) we could have had plenty of goals.

“We could have had plenty of goals at Port Vale, but we haven’t.

“We have lost against Port Vale, we drew against Crawley and we have lost here at Home Park, which is more disappointing.

“We wanted to make it a fortress but that record we had of not losing at home has gone. We need to put it right, quickly.”

Lowe said: “The first one is disappointing from where it has come from. One cross in the box.

“We have been working all week on the crosses. We know the way they play and to be unopposed in the six-yard box is a joke really.

“It shouldn’t happen. You should be getting your head on it.

“Then we have a bit of a mix-up running out with the ball and then we find it in the back of our net.

“So disappointed with the goals, always are, because we feel they are avoidable, but me, as a former striker, I’m disappointed with not scoring goals.”

Lowe continued: “I will never blame anyone individually in the media, but they know. They know who’s at fault and it’s down to me to address it.”

Lowe said: “It’s not good enough in both boxes. Everything else is fine. Maybe this is a bit of a reality check.

“Where we are is where we are. Maybe there are players that are not up for it but that’s up to me to sort out.”

He added: “What I will say is we are not a million miles away because we are creating chances, we are getting in certain areas.

“It’s small fine details about being ruthless and in both boxes at the moment we are not ruthless.”

Ryan Lowe will look closer into the sudden spate of injuries at Plymouth Argyle which has seen several players put on the sidelines.

The Pilgrims’ boss admitted it was ‘something I’m not happy about’ when he met the media after the 2-0 defeat by Cheltenham Town at Home Park.

Striker Byron Moore was ruled out before the match after suffering a hamstring injury in the 2-2 draw at Crawley Town last Tuesday.

Right wing-back Joe Riley continues to be sidelined by a knee injury while midfielder Jose Baxter sat out the game against Cheltenham because of a tight calf.

On-loan striker Zak Rudden has also returned to his parent club, Glasgow Rangers, for assessment of a knee injury.

And then, to make matters even worse, striker Dom Telford pulled up against Cheltenham.

Telford was substituted in the 26th minute, with Ryan Taylor as his replacement, after a hamstring injury.

The 22-year-old was making his first start since returning from a similar problem.

Lowe said: “We have got a bit of an issue now with injuries. I felt that we were down to Joe Riley as the only one and then, all of a sudden, we have picked up a few niggling injuries.

“Jose was out today, Zak has gone back to Rangers to have a scan because of his knee, Dom has now come off feeling his hamstring.

“Byron is out so, it’s something I need to address in that department to make sure that this can’t happen because it gets sprung on me.

“That’s something for me to address, but it’s something I’m not happy about because I went from potentially having one injury to four or five.”

Rudden, who signed on loan for Argyle last month, missed all of pre-season at Rangers due to a torn meniscus in one of his knees, but his latest issue is an unrelated one.

He said: “With all due respect to us, Rangers are a bigger club than us and they have got the best facilities.

“We felt that we needed to respond with them and both come to a mutual agreement that he goes up there to get his knee checked, which is the right thing.

“They have got the top physios and fitness coaches and scans, and everything else, so he has gone up there to see their doctor because he was struggling with his knee.

“I felt ‘Look, if he’s struggling there is no point’. We were going to get him looked at down here because we have a duty of care of him.

“But they (Rangers) said ‘No, send him to us, we will address it’. They dealt with the injury what he had before he came to us.”

Lowe confirmed the problem with Rudden’s knee was different to the previous issue.

He said: “The knee is fine. He’s struggling with something at the back of it so they are going to address it because he’s their player.

“Hopefully we will get some good news on that Monday that it’s not too bad.”

Rudden has made two starts and five substitute appearances for the Pilgrims and has yet to open his goalscoring account.

Baxter’s absence against Cheltenham came after he had worked hard since signing for Argyle late in pre-season to build up his fitness levels.

The 27-year-old had been taken off with a tight calf near the end of the draw against Crawley and might be out for 'a week to 10 days' according to Lowe.

“Joe Riley could be alright soon, Dom we will have to address him now," said Lowe. "It’s something in that physio department I need to look at.”

Baxter was substituted near the end of the draw with Crawley but had been ready to play against Cheltenham.

Lowe said: “He just felt his calf tightening. We recovered him and he came out and trained yesterday, but again it weren’t quite right so we said ‘Right, go in’. He wanted to play but there’s no point.

“It was like Dom, I had to have a serious conversation with him at the side of the pitch and he couldn’t give me an answer, so I made the answer easier for him.

“I said ‘Get off, go and get yourself in’. He wanted to stay on and give it his all but there is no point.

“As I have said all along, I’m one for losing players for a week or two, not four to six weeks.”

Lowe added: “At the moment is it a kick in the teeth? Yeah, because I thought Dom would have scored today.

“He looked lively in the first 30-odd minutes he was on the pitch. We need to address it quickly.”

Incredible insight from the Manager.

Perhaps put up a poster in the dressing Room "football is about scoring more goals than the other team"

I see newell has deleted the post where the geezer calls him out over his 'failed my interview'.

Has there ever been a bigger dickhead in the history of Argyle supporters.
