Just wondered if the fitting of solar panels on the roof of the new stand roof was considered, thought it would be a good money earner for Argyle. It would be the ideal time to fit them.
reply JonB
It is, isn’t it? Going up soon |

| They should be looking to house a large scale battery installation if putting in solar. As reported this week the area has a surplus of green energy during the day but needs support in the peak evening period. |

| Whilst I applaud any green initiative I can't help thinking solar would be better fitted to either Barn Park or Demport as they do point south rather than the East/West alignment of the Grandstand. Solar basics innit? |

| So am I but facing the panels in the right direction will literally double their output. |

| I thought the Grandstand ran West to East lengthwise, meaning the back slope on the roof faces South.
Isn't that optimal? |

| Sitting in the Lyndhurst around block fifteen you get blinded by the sun setting behind the grandstand which would suggest its facing East and the back to the west and ninety degrees from optimal hence my previous remarks. |

| The red on the arrow on the right hand side points to magnetic North. I rest my case. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| So the Sun sets in the South in Plymouth or is it only on match days? I'm genuinely surprised if that needle is actually pointing the right way. Shorely I haven't imagined the sun in my eyes setting over the grandstand viewed from the Lyndy? |

| FFS. Here's a program I use to know where the sun rises, sets, where the milky way will be at any given time day or year, where the feck the moon is, tides, Lidl opening times etc etc - ad-infintum. I've picked Aug 10th. Our first home game V Colchester. Knock yourselves out with the info. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

Knock yourselves out with the info. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Well I'm confused. I've never seen those lines when I have visited Plymouth! Are they some of those 'ley lines' I've heard of because if they are it means lots of different things that I have no idea about. _______________________________________ I'm one of the common people so says the wife! | Are you looking for a row? I'm not arguing with the compasses, or maps I just made the observation that the sun shines in your eyes as it drops behind the Mayflower. Most probably earlier in the season when the sun sets more to the SW. Stand down Rickler, stand down, save your ire for when someone has a pop at Hallett. |

| If the panels are on the back of the mayflower roof, not the North facing slope, they will get max insolation. _______________________________________ COYG!

| Max Insolation. Phrase of the day, I'll save it until I'm next in the pub acting like a solar specialist. |

You didn't just make the observation that the sun shines in your eyes as it drops behind the Mayflower, you used that as evidence to back up your claim that any solar panels that may be added were going in the wrong place! "Solar Basics innit" and all that. ...and of course you are arguing with compasses and maps, and all the stupid little Hallett digs in the world won't stop you from being hopelessly wrong. |
