The on-loan goalkeeper who broke an ankle during Plymouth Argyle’s pre-season tour to the Netherlands has made his playing comeback.
Harry Burgoyne started for Wolves under-23s in their Premier League Cup game away to Oxford United on Monday.
The Group E game was played at Meadow View Park, the home of Thame United, and ended in a 1-1 draw.
Burgoyne, who returned to Wolves after his injury but is still officially on loan to Argyle, made a number of smart saves throughout it, but was beaten by a second half penalty.
The 21-year-old was all set to be the Pilgrims’ first choice ‘keeper after signing on a season-long deal in the summer.
However, he broke an ankle during a training session while Argyle were at their Dutch training camp.
That forced manager Derek Adams into signing a replacement for Burgoyne only days before the EFL campaign began.
Matt Macey was brought in on a season-long loan from Arsenal and has been an ever present in League One.
Argyle have had to continue to pay the wages of Burgoyne while he has been injured.
