Gary Bowyer has become the first managerial casualty of the season - just one game into the campaign.
Bowyer has stepped down as Tangerines boss following their 0-0 draw at Wycombe in their League One opener on Saturday.
He is understood to have held talks with owner Owen Oyston on Monday and his assistant Terry McPhillips has been placed in temporary charge.
"It has been a pleasure to manage Blackpool Football Club over the past two years and there are many people I wish to express my thanks to," Bowyer said on the club's official website.
