| Article is a couple of weeks old, but relates to Exeter getting 'up to' 2.3m compo for having a youth team player poached by Chelski.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43804785
Other than the controversy of smaller clubs getting shafted by the Premiership giants, this bit caught my eye:
Ampadu's fee could still turn out to be a club record and he is the third player from their much-respected academy to garner a fee of more than £1m in the past three years. But while City's academy has generated more than £5m for the club in that time, many will be saying 'if only it was more'.
Have Argyle made much money from their academy recently? Seems that Excretia are always producing decent youth players. |

| We get out what we put in, not a lot. Back in the Holloway days we had Mike Pejic who had a good reputation and Gordon Bennett coaching the kids and we turned out quite a few decent youngsters. Now we rely on the GT's sigh. |

| Ah, fear not Coxy, there will be plenty of youth coming through that are a dab hand with a pint and a pasty. |

| So it appears that Brent's idea to save money in all areas of operations has led to City selling £5m worth of kiddies and Plumduff Akkeron not even able to field a yoof/ressies side against Falmouth? We used to have THE south west academy now it looks like its Cities gig. How has this been allowed to happen? We bang on and on about all the fantastic work that Akkeron in the community does by taking money off all these school kids for training sessions (supported by more fan based fawning in the bloated shape of Ian Newell) but we seem to miss the trick of scouting any of said talent and putting the best in our youth setup. Feck off Brent you amateur wanker. |

| Why would Brent invest in a youth team? There is no guarantee that the youngsters will make the grade as either squad players or valuable assets. It makes more sense to sign journeymen players on 12 month contracts and just replace or keep them as necessary. |

| Shorely that is a tongue in cheek reply? How can we not afford to invest in a youth setup? You'd think we were Tavvy the way this club is run. |

| Serious question. How many of Excretia's home grown players who were sold for substantial sums e.g. Grimes are now playing high level footy? Isn't Grimes on loan to a Lge 1 or 2 club? |

I will humour you even though I know what you are trying to spin. Ampadu is 17 and has played more for Wales than he has for Chelsea. Grimes hasn’t been a success at Swansea and has spent the season at Northampton. Ollie Watkins has done well at Brentford. They spent £100k on Stockley who has scored 24 goals so far this season. The BBC have this quote from the Ampadu story: “Ampadu’s fee could still turn out to be a club record and he is the third player from their much-respected academy to garner a fee of more than £1m in the past three years. But while City's academy has generated more than £5m for the club in that time, many will be saying 'if only it was more'. Exeter fans will have to hope Ampadu continues to blossom and he gets a high-value transfer to another club in years to come if they are to truly profit from his development.” So in conclusion: Exeter have made over £5 million from their youth academy. Spending money on transfer fees wisely at this level can bring rewards. |

Do Exeter worry about where their sold players ply their trade? or do they have better things to do like invest the FIVE MILLION POUNDS THEY MADE. |

| The amount of cap doffing and forelock tugging at this club is enough to make me puke. Have we relocated to the home counties or summat? |

| From a purely cash and revenue perspective does it really matter where the players a club sells end up down the line. So what if you get £1m-£2m from a top flight club and the kid ends up back in League 1 a couple of years later. Not your problem - all you've got to do is get players to a standard whereby that Premier club is willing to spunk serious cash on them in the first place.

Of course it doesn't matter where a player ends up and at any normal football club we wouldn't have the loons using any position to try and justify their support of a shite regime that is clearly in it for property and not players, never again? Lol. |
