| Wexit. Depends what you want out of football. Epitomises some of the gentrification that has come withy the super global money. Questionable how they pinched so many European and African youngsters, but ho hum. If you want articulate micro management, making the most out of your brand, and in fact improving on it, a new super colliseum with contemporary quaffing and scoffing opportunities in every block, continuing profit with a loyal customer base who aren't that bothered about the product as long as it's a premium Saturday experience, then Wenger is your man. Maybe a supermarket or trucking company next.
I didn't dislike the man, especially when you consider some of the miserable snarling 'erberts doing the top jobs. You don't even have to have been a top pro. I also like the present Liverpool manager, he seems a good pleasant person to work with, along with a bit of something exciting. Maybe the days of gruff, ex pro, brown envelope gormless Brits are coming to an end. I can only hope. |

Looking at some of the Arsenal forums in recent months would seem to contradict the view that their customer base is not bothered about the product-very nasty, almost vicious abuse in places. Could never take to the man but there's no doubt that he built some tasty teams in the early/mid part of this reign and is their most successful manager ever if winning trophies is the criteria. Drawbacks for me were his incessant whingeing about his players getting crocked by bad tackles while at the same time sending Viera out to wrap six studs around peoples kneecaps and the lack of English talent produced by Arsenal during his reign, although he certainly isn't unique on that score. |
