| Passed away aged 84.One of the first chairmen in my time as a supporter in the mid 1960's and lasted until the early 1980's.Rather a mixed time really, looked very promising for a year or two under Waiters, then quietly subsided into years of mid table third division obscurity. Can't say that every decision he made met with approval from yours truly but he must have put a lot of hours into the club so credit to him for that-seem to remember he was quite a big deal on the football league management board for some years as well. Due sympathy to his family.
RIP |

My old Dad never had a good word to say about him - used to say he didn't want Argyle to go up. How things change!!
Didn't stop us eating in the Magnet though. |

Certainly remember going there with my grandparents when they were shopping in Plymouth, used to be a regular haunt-for some reason, vegetable soup keeps coming to mind when trying to summon up vague details. The Magnet must have closed in about the late 1960's or early 1970's,not sure exactly what occupies the site now. Maybe the modern equivalent would be somewhere like the Steak and Omelette? |
