ARGYLE'S Under-18s will have their next chance to shine under the lights of Home Park when they face Fulham in the FA Youth Cup fifth round.
The Pilgrims have a chance to get to the last eight of the competition if they can beat 2014 finalists Fulham when the sides meet on Wednesday, February 7 (7pm kick-off).
Kevin Hodges' Young Pilgrims beat Eastleigh then Wimbledon to reach the third round, where they faced the mighty Manchester City. The game was goalless after 120 minutes, sending it to a shoot-out, which Argyle won.
This won the Greens a fourth round trip to Burnley, which they won 1-0 with a last-ditch Billy Craske strike.
We would love the Green Army to get behind Kevin and the boys on February 7. Tickets can be purchased from Monday, January 22. They will cost £5 for adults, £3 for Over 65s and £1 for under 18s. We will be opening the Grandstand and the central blocks of the Lyndhurst stand. Please note that seating will be unreserved.
The Under-18s are also in action on Friday, January 19 as they meet Swindon Town at 6.30pm. The game will be played on the 4G pitch at Plymouth Marjon University.

| I literally couldnt give a shit about 16 year olds playing against other 16 year olds unless they look like breaking into the first XI. Apart from the keeper, are any of these players actually, yer know, any good? |

| Be great if the kids get through and then drawn away in London Town. I’d go and watch the buggers then too. |

| Pity that, but most important is that some of the players in that team make enough progress to start challenging for a first team place-about time really. |

| If we get safe early enough, I would have no qualms in putting 2 or 3 of them in the first xi for a tryout. Otherwise I am not sure what the point is. |

Agreed. Once there is no danger of relegation or, ahem, playoffs Hodges should be in Adams ear. Sangster has had a sniff, but there will deffo be others that deserve periphery place for a few games. |

| Meh, a couple of wins and everyone was seeing stars. Won't make the slightest difference to the first team stuff. The quaintly named "ladies' team" won't affect anything either.
However, having said that, it's sadly been a long old time since locally brewed youngsters had much of a chance at Argyle, and I can only assume that is down to the managers concerned, or the kids just aren't good enough. There almost feels like a form of snobery too where locals don't get a sniff. Even Mason didn't get that many games before he was ferreted away for nothing. I'm a big fan of blooding youngsters in first team football asap. Look at Francis, 4 "premier" league goals on his debut at 16. Didn't do him any harm. Too much is made of protecting promising football kids in this country. Football at different levels is a different sport. Some kids who couldn't hack the thugs of Division 4 could find the game played at Division 2 level a lot easier. Some people play better for their country than for their club. There's only one way to find out. |

| Yep exactly. Who'd heard of Gosling before injuries saw Hollaway chuck him in at 16? He certainly wasn't being touted as some fantastic prospect. Even his first few games he was maybe holding his own/scraping by. Now he plays for Bournemouth! I'll bet he never saw that as a good career move at the time. |
