| Al, I used to stay at the Torbay Hotel as a kid with our parents, but way before your time. I have a soft spot for it and was still quite a posh place in the sixties until the new 5 star Imperial stole the guests. That shift of trade across the Harbour meant they had to appeal to the Saga rinses and it was never the same again. A real shame. It went through several disguises including a rather dodgy disco and all that that attracted. I remember the Mervyn Saunders Trio, a sort of old style Palm Court three that used to play in the main lounge area just off the main entrance lobby. In those days, the food was pretty spot on for us kids. 5 course evening meals and breakfasts, with a stonking lunch. Bomber, if you need a risk assessment check and a map from the hotel, 20 yards to the bus stop, I'm sure the hotel will oblige. A 5.25 train after the game is cutting it a bit fine, you might have to pick up those sore feet. Without a doubt, especially as you sound like you have a bus pass, the bus from Royal Parade is the way to go, provided you don't sit upstairs as it swings around a bit too much for you old geezers. Oh, and keep your mits off my parsnips when you pass the allotments. |

| Ha Ha Yep I may be getting on but I go to the gym 3 times a week and in my mind I'm still 21. I cant believe it's me when I look in a mirror Getting older happens to everyone, and after 40 time accelerates to twice the speed. Whats the alternative??? I've stayed at the Torbay Hotel before. O.K. it isn't 5 stars but for what we have paid i.e. £94.00 each for 3 nights B&B and evening meal, 4 free drinks each on the Saturday, a trip out on the Saturday to Exeter, which my wife and the other guys wives will be going on, plus return coach from Wigan It's a no brainier. The supporters club are charging £28.00 for the coach alone, just there and back... Me and my mate will be having a quick swim across the bay to Brixham and back before breakfast, to get us geared up for the match |

You can catch the citybus number 43 from the train station up to Milehouse. Once you hop off at Milehouse, the Brit and ground are very, very close by. Hope you enjoy your journey down, enjoy the match and most importantly, leave pointless . You lot are dead certs for promotion, so losing to Argyle will just be a blip on the road to the Champuonship. |

| Getting promotion isn't the problem Like before, its staying there that is the problem and I'm afraid a club like Wigan without Dave Whelan's money hasn't the finances available to buy the players that will keep us there. Let's hope the consortium who is taking over will plough some money into the club??? |

Benefactors ploughing money in is fine. But to be fair you really should count your lucky stars that you've had Dave Whelan to let you live the dream for 20-odd years. I was at Springfield Park in '86 on that horrific grass bank/cowshed away end. In all honesty with the fanbase you had, without Whelan you'd probably still be there and would be scrapping around the basement league areas. You must have a reasonable infrastructure still in place at the club though because you're signing players Argyle could only dream of buying/paying, despite us averaging bigger crowds than you. |

Modern football is so money driven these days, the gap between the divisions (financial wise) is criminal. There have been one or two who have slipped down the league structure. And one or two more will slide down into the never regions of League One and Two. The Championship is a good division if you have the Chairman and Board that can throw some spare cash around willy-nilly. If, Like ourselves, you do not have a Chairman and Board who are willing or able (for whatever reason, in our case it is austerity and short term contracts STILL) to do that, then the odds of lasting more than a season or two would diminish rapidly. Not knowing a great deal of the Wigan Athletic FC take over, who are they and do they have a football background or are savvy to the game. On a final note, how many do you think will travel down for the game ?. |

| Lets face it the PREMIER LEAGUE OF GREED has ruined grass roots football and to get anywhere these days you need plenty of money. I'm a big supporter of smaller teams getting one over on the larger teams and hope teams like Bournemouth, (What a fantastic job Eddie Howe has done there one of my favourite managers no excuses when they lose if the other team were better on the day), Huddersfield etc. every now and then can put one over on the BIG BOYS The latest Sanchez affair is a prime example He will probably earn more in 1 month than most people earn in a lifetime. If we come away with 1 point on Saturday I'll be happy but win lose or draw I'm old enough not to get suicidal if we loseFor me its about meeting other teams fans and listen to their perspective on the game in general over a pint or two. These last few seasons we have been buoyed up with the parachute payments so we will have to see what happens now they have stopped? Best wishes to Ryan Edwards from the Wigan Supporters Club |

You lot are dead certs for promotion, so losing to Argyle will just be a blip on the road to the Champuonship. The 43 runs every 10 mins, I think. All of the other buses at the same stop go to Argyle too. Look for The Life Centre on the timetable thingy to be certain. You won't have to wait long that's for sure. |

Best wishes to Ryan Edwards from the Wigan Supporters Club Back in the day of fanzines, I played for the Evergreen team who took on 'Steady Nigel FC' (the Wigan supporters) before a match at your place back I'm the 90's. Great laugh, good bunch of lads (both teams) the way football should be. |

| Good weekend and a good result, which in all honesty flattered us. Managed to get to Plymouth and back to Torquay with no problems Went on bus to Newton Abbot then bust to Plymouth all in all took about 1 1/2 hours then a 15 min walk to the Brittania pub. overall cost £4.00 Thanks for all the advice and a special mention to Mock Cruncher who messed us about with the offer of a lift and then never appeared... probably the same guy who goes around scratching cars... |

| Tgwu thanks for your comments I know that these days there are these sort of people around, unfortunately. To be honest I don't see what they get out of it??? All clubs have people( I resist in calling them SUPPORTERS) with this mentality. I'm afraid. Traveling around the grounds you find that 99.9 % of supporters are decent people who can discuss the game from an unbiased perspective. We met some supporters in the Brittania pub who were very helpful and were appreciative of the Wigan fans who had made the journey. Good luck for the rest of the season but hopefully we won't be coming back next season Which is unfortunate as I like coming down to the south coast, especially when we can make a weekend of it. |

To be fair one of us should have pointed out that Mock wasn't actually serious, but after you had taken the offer seriously it was too good to spoil. I think we all thought Mock may have come back into the convo at some point. But no real harm done. If by chance you fook up promotion and we don't go down, I'll pick u up outside Woolworths at 10.30am in next years corresponding fixture. |
