| Absolutely fantastic result but I can't help but to wonder how long it will be before an offer for Michael Cooper comes in from Man City? |

| mancity.com what happened as Manchester City faced Plymouth Argyle away at Home Park in the third round of the FA Youth Cup.
Manchester City have been knocked-out of the FA Youth Cup after losing 6-5 on penalties to Plymouth Argyle.
After 90 minutes, plus half and hour of extra time, the game resulted in a penalty shoot out and the victory was clinched by the home side. What happened
The first half remained goalless for both sides with only a few moments worth noting.
Just five minutes into the game and Ed Francis was called to action as Billy Craske came bounding towards him. Francis kicked away the first attempt, but after Craske collected the deflected ball and tried once again the City star blocked it with his face. A superb effort, but it looked painful!
City didn’t have many clear-cut chances early on, but Benjamin Garre looked constantly on hand to bring the ball forward and cross into the box, however, on a few occassions there wasn’t anyone in the box to collect his pass and it went to waste.
Ian Poveda replaced Tyreke Wilson in the break, and his impact was clear on the pitch – his confidence looked intimidating to the opposition, but the home side continue to hold on strong throughout the second period.
Simon Davies’ side enjoyed much of the possession in both halves, but the Blues were unable to convert despite the constant feeling of a goal brewing.
In the 69th minute, it looked as though the visitors had taken the lead as Plymouth’s Harry Downing headered past Curtis Anderson, however Poveda was there and waiting – he booted the ball off the line superbly. It was definitely a close one!
The game grew more tense as the minutes disappeared, especially as City had three clear-cut chances which were expertly saved by the Plymouth ‘keeper. Efforts from substitution Felix Nmecha, Iker Pozo and Rabbi Matondo looked likely to win the game for Simon Davies’ side, but as both sides remained goalless and the game was sent into extra time.
City started the extra time at a canter and looked incredibly hungry for the winning goal to prevent penalties. However, little action in the 30 minutes of extra time meant that all eyes were on Anderson and Cooper in goal.
As it went to penalties Matondo was first up and netted the first penalty of the shoot out, Francis, Smith, Dele-Bashiru, Anderson were also successful. Unfortunately Felix Nmecha’s effort went just wide while Ian Poveda’s effort was saved.
For the home side, Anderson saved Luke Jephcott’s strike from the spot but Ryan Law, Klaidi Lolos, Cameron Sangster, Adam Rendell, skipper Harry Downing, and Michael Peck were able to secure a penalty each.
The 6-5 result on penalties meant that City unfortunately will not be progressing into the fourth round.
How they lined up
Curtis Anderson took his place in goal, with a back four of Eric Garcia, captain Joel Latibeaudiere, Ed Francis and Tyreke Wilson.
Matt Smith took his defensive midfield role, with Iker Pozo and Tom Dele-Bashiru alongside him.
Benjamin Garre and Rabbi Matondo flanked Nabil Touaizi up front. What it means
Our loss to Plymouth Arygle means that we will not progress into the fourth round to play against Burnley. |

| Has nothing to do with "argyle" and it's future on the pitch whatsoever, any more than the "ladies" team. How PC will this club become ? No doubt will be rammed down the throats of PCC when Brent demands another portion of the park for his, ahem! "football academy". He'll end up fencing off half the park. Just how much room does a lower league football club need ? Manchester buy in their success at 20 plus, not as youngsters. Man City youth is just a rack and stack where most will play lower league football or nothing. Manchester United's golden Scholes, Beckham, Giggs, Neville etc was a real one off. Nick Chadwick and Alan Judge are nearer the norm. People just playing with the juxtaposition of Brands. zzzzzzzzzzzz
I wish I could be more charitable to the young souls who like to play a bit of footy, but such has been the asset strip/economic bullshit/greed/polarisation and division with in present day pro football clubs, and particularly in Plymouth, it really isn't in my life remit to give a monkeys about some young ill educated teenies kicking a ball reasonably well before they hop off and do the real job that's waiting for them.

| Well done to the lads who played, though i see a certain superfan/self promoter is claiming the glory!! the true test of a youth policy is how many make first team regulars up to now its only been Ben Purrinton who Akkeron Jim was quick to sell, so the jury's out on the Hodges /Nool Academy. |

Bah humbug! For these lads it was their cup final it would be churlish not to congratulate them. |

| Irrelevant. I pop down to the local park and cheer on many people booting a football around, often youth teams, happy to see skills well controlled. I just don't ascribe a brand badge to it. You're way off the scent Earwig. There's some good young uns down on the tills at Aldi. I prefer people skills to footy skills. Footy skills are two a penny, and the badges long gone, don't know what any of those old tribes mean anymore. |

| How the hell anyone can turn a great achievement by a bunch of innocent players who have no interest in the politics of the club, with such a curmudgeonly post is way beyond me. Only beesrus and that twisted and nasty mindset of his is capable of such a thing. He's a pub clearer if ever there was. I'm surprised he hasn't used the "it was only a 0-0 draw". Or "Hodges got his tactics wrong".
He's had countless opportunities to confront Brent personally but truth is he's a bottle merchant. The ultimate Keyboard Warrior.

| I do enjoy seeing somebody use a social media platform to call somebody else a "Keyboard Warrior".
It's not so much "message board" as "irony board".

I said the Ultimate KW.
But then again he’s so much better than all of us at just about everything. |

| I'll do and say as I please if it is all the same to you.
And if it isn't I will anyway.
You know the big difference between us? As a poster I would never even dream of telling anybody what they can or can't or should or should not say on a messageboard whose very core purpose is to give people the opportunity to speak freely.
"Not so much "message board" as "irony board"" is getting truer by the minute. |
