| The Seething Cauldron Of Meh that Home Park has become is an insult to the fans, a hindrance to the team and a disaster for the club. It does not need to be like this and there is a very simple solution: re-open the Mayflower Terrace. It is frustrating enough as it is seeing opposing managers prowl up and down their "technical area" like they bloody own the place and a little helpful advice from our fans on the terrace behind them might just have the effect of encouraging them to stay in their dugout to keep out of the way. Apart from being a rather jolly jape for everybody concerned over there it is a part of home advantage and we have been squandering it for far too long now. It isn't just managers; it's linesmen too. How easy is it for them over there? They get a free ride, basically. OK it might enable them to make more correct decisions but there might be the odd one or two that could go our way that don't and to be honest I don't much care if they are right just so long as they go our way. Another example of home advantage being squandered. It is also the general feel... of the atmosphere in the ground. Even when Home Park is getting excited, which doesn't happen every often but there is still the odd occasion, fever pitch only hits about 6 out of 10 because that empty terrace sucks the soul out of everything. There was a perfect example yesterday. When their [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] was subbed the ref indicated that he had to leave the pitch and walk around the perimeter rather than make the long, slow trudge across it with which we are all so familiar (something I don't recall seeing happen before, actually). Obviously the Devonport End did their bit and offered him some helpful, even if, perhaps, physically impossible, advice as to where he should go and how quickly he should try to get there, as is right and proper and has happened since time immemorial, but we were denied the theatre of him running the gauntlet of the Mayflower touchline. Another small advantage squandered. Right now we need every advantage we can get or we are going to be relegated. Seating, standing, safe-standing, anything. Just get fans back on the Mayflower. It might cost some money but being relegated will cost more. We need to do whatever is needed and spend however much it costs immediately. No matter what it takes. Just get it done and get it done quickly. |

| There is a real movement away from the fortress home park to the family day experience, no doubt driven by our owner who hasn't got a clue about Football or football fans. HP will remain devoid of atmosphere so Jimmy doesn't have to pay for Police. |

In all honesty I'm starting to like this being banned malarkey. The club hasn't felt like mine in 6 years. |

| Apparently negative comments on social media have an impact on the team. Imagine if the Mayflower moaners returned? The poor icikle players would be blubbering if they heard any nasty comments. |

And Heaven forbid if any of the Mayflower terrace inhabitants were to turn around, look up and tell those in the Directors Box what they really thought of them. It’ll stay closed for that reason. |

| the crowd is an aging demographic, no money to be made from the bobble hatted, nodding, clapping seniors who buy an early bird season ticket and nothing else, the money spinner Jim spies to line his pockets is families, families who buy food and merchandise.... aggro is soooo old school darlings. |

| There's something quite spooky and quite frankly, disturbing, that so many people can be happy with letting one person, yes, that's just one person, and not the brightest spark either, having free rein to indulge his own personal dodgy preference and change whatever culture of the football club he sees fit, when he's never been a football man, doesn't live here, has clearly stated he's after a property deal for himself, and has "donated" less to the football club than I have. We are talking bulk standard "eeeeezzz better than meeeee". That might sit pretty with the likes of Newell, but I don't think I'll be playing along with that one. As to the demographics thing, Argyle have always moaned about too many concessionary fans, including kids and pensioners. Well, I tell you what, here's a tip, how about dropping the price of ordinary adult tickets and increasing the price for kids. That'll change your demographic mix in a split second...... easy. Of course, the age old argument is that the kids are the future supporters. Well, how about trying to attract those adult casual/regular customers that are already supporters in the PRESENT. Most kids who are dragged along to the footy don't go anywhere near a football club when they're older. In truth, as others have stated, Brent's model is all about a family day out. Before he decided to take a shot at a couple of property wheezes in Plymouth, I very much doubt his idea of a family day out was Home Park. And in reality, it's never been for most families. The guy is way off the scent. |
