It really is bothersome to see a club like Bournemouth [no disrespect to them, but almost always below us in status and crowd figures] being able to attract investment on a seemingly large scale and thus being able to afford to bring a player like Tubbs in for £800k,while we haven't got a ha'penny to scratch our collective arse with.No doubt we'll get the "dodgy russian, wouldn't want him down here, rather have a stout janner in charge" reasoning and,to be fair there have been one or two less than satisfactory incursions from the old soviet empire in both England and Scotland. But there have also been some very beneficial ones-surely competent due diligence should be able to tell the difference between a good apple and a bad 'un? It begs the question of why the old board or the Guilfoyle/Ridsdale alliance didn't look a bit further in this direction and IMHO is a key area where an Argyle trust should be putting pressure on the powers that be within the club in future.A classic example of where benevolent investment has been provided for good is Blackpool, who were in a far less advantageous position, both crowd and status wise, four years ago but who now are established second tier contenders with a doubled fanbase. And if anyone suggest that geography or history is the reason for their success,i shall take a large mallet and smash this computer out of existence.
