| Formed in 2114 Hereford are going well in the Southern league Premiership, and through to the first round of the FA cup. If Argyle was'nt saved by Brent and the gang we too could have a thriving club going forward instead of the Brentmare world of property speculators and fvckwits. |

| I always liked the idea of the reformed club being called Plymouth Pilgrims. I would also ban anyone wearing a bobble hat from attending any games or saying "punching above our weight". |

| I'd rather support a PAFC Phoenix club than the support Argo with the current shower in charge. |

| Don't be fooled by the Hereford story/spin. Beneath the assiduous PR campaign the private owners and their patsy Webb-esque fans have conducted there's a very murky story of the fans being stitched up without many of them even realising it yet.
It's not dissimilar to your plight really - they have their own version of Avivas, taken in by devious private owners who blindsided any chance of the fans having a genuine say, with a strong suspicion said owners are in it for potential development profits in the future and a dissident group who see through it but struggle to get their voice heard. They also have a sceptics forum, albeit invitation only. I'm actually a member, although I haven't posted or visited for a while).
There was even a Newell-esque internet scandal where a turncoat patsy fan, co-opted by the private owners a la the PAFC Superfans, stole the identity of someone in order to discredit the idea of real fan-ownership, which resulted in the Bulls Banter forum,(which had become controlled by allies of the private owners a la GESTAPASOTI, with the same sly deletion of critical posts etc) closing for ever.
The truth is clouded by the fact that,as at Argyle, the leaders of the Trust at the time the club folded and the Phoenix club were formed betrayed the fans' true interests and colluded in the stitch-up. (Although the Chris Webb-era AFT, with it's self-appointed cod-Churchill, was never really a Trust at all). I believe John Hale, the formerleader of the Trust then boardroom patsy, left the board in some mysterious falling out with the private owners.
They have managed to get very favourable press which clouds the truth by assiduously cultivating the myth/lie that they are a fan-owned club and harvesting the understandable sympathy most people have for the disaster that befell the original club. In reality the fans have individually held shares of an inferior class with no power, that allows the private owners to create a feelgood myth about fan involvement. In reality the position of the fans is similar to that which you lot would have found yourselves in had the AFT fallen for Brent's confidence trick of offering a meaningless shareholding for silly money.
With Hereford's fanbase, which is better than some League clubs, they were always going to piss over their eighth and ninth-tier rivals, some of whom probably barely manage to attract s couple of hundred fans if that - which is why the private owners' claim that a genuine fan-owned phoenix club wasn't viable and their de facto "our way or the highway" ultimatum when Hereford FC was formed was such mendacious bullshit.
One of the former leaders of an exiles group of the defunct HUFC is so disgusted by the stitch-up that he told me he wasn't sure he could stomach going anymore. He once posted a magnificent rant excoriating the situation which I screenshotted. Unfortunately, like the screenshots of GESTAPASOTI's deviousness that I took during the thread that led to my ban, it's buried in the mountain of nonsense on my external drives.I'll see if I can dig it out sometime.
Be careful of feelgood stories in the press - particularly when lower/non-league clubs are involved. Most national journos etc, couldn't really give a s**t about verifying the spin they are fed.Don't forget the favourable press the Reluctant Bidder has managed to attract and the fans of other clubs duped into thinking he's doing a great job.

| A good read that Jabbs, it would seem its too easy to dupe the general public but then its the same people that will vote for the same political party in time immorial believing that it could always be worse. You can apply that theory to every walk of life and it paves the way for the asset strippers, all together now, "AT LEAST WE HAVE A CLUB TO SUPPORT!" |

| Thanks for the info. We all know there are always collaborators willing to betray their neighbours, from the Vichy French, through to the East India company thing to local betrayers at several football clubs up and down the land. Ridsdale has always said get the fans on your side, and that's what he did, easily spotting those with the trait. Give 'em a few perks, a staged false minor victory early on to bump their ego, such as a hotel breakfast, get them signed up, and they're basically good to go. There are always such individuals in a herd. Newell is but one of a long line. I hasten to add it doesn't always turn out badly, and other scenarios are available when followed on a longer time frame. |

| Good read Jabba - having recently left Worcester after 2 great years, many a tale to hear from the locals who were their rivals for many years. The fans are notorious and still cause havoc around the small hamlets etc that make up the sub league especially around the West Midlands in the last couple of years. Went to go shopping there a few times and many people from Worcester seem to work there but it is a god forsaken place, chavsville. Still been averaging 2k+ sinc the drop. |

Wonder what happened there [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] He has tried several times to ride the wave of fans reunited as if it was HIS idea. Thankfully other clubs fans arent as thick as some of ours and can see right through him. |
