| Evening all. A personal request, if I may. This year's Close Season survey is still open for your contributions. The greater the level of participation, the more useful the conclusions will be, for the club and for the fans too. Every year, the club pays close attention to the findings of this survey and it has led to improvements in the match day experience for us all. It'll take five or ten minutes of your time. Thanks in advance. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| While I have some empathy with the people running this survey, but really only a little empathy, sometimes they should think of the Michael Foot position in a general sense, and just why he resigned, while still following the club. The problem, as plain as a pike staff, is the club owners want something different for themselves and their days at the ground, than that offered to the huge majority of fans. One simple example is the eternal catering issue. I refuse point blank to accept that the owners would choose to scoff and quaff what is available in the Lyndhurst every week. They wouldn't dream of it. And yet, the same old expensive, queue ridden crap is just churned out under the disguise of a sub contract/tender or some such nonsense where nothing can be done. I really don't understand why intelligent people can actually continually annually keep pleading in such a behoving manner. I believe such pointless surveys should be conducted by Sergeant Newell and the like, and be seen for what they are. The truth is, John, and I'm sure you're a good egg that means well, this continuing survey is part of your "power base" and you're loathe to give it up, no matter how little REAL notice is taken. Just what has changed of any consequence as a result of these "polls" ? Just what have they achieved that wouldn't have happened of course of normal business ? It's just sooooo old fashioned in a consumer sense, so passive. |

| It's certainly arguable that the survey is a pointless exercise, with the same old issues of catering, stewarding and more remaining relentlessly below par, year after year.
The fact that it's conducted externally of the club gives it a kernel of credibility, which has prolonged its life far beyond my original expectations, when I thought it would be interesting to have a statistically relevant sample to draw upon in ongoing debates on club issues on the Internet forums.
Successive club directors and then the AFT have seen the merit of that data store - what they do with the information is, of course, their responsibility, not mine.
I've seen some incremental changes over the years, but the pace of improvement is painfully slow, as is the Argyle way.
Like Pasty News, it's now become a responsibility, rather than an enjoyable task each year - participation numbers this year have dipped notably and perhaps that's a sign that it's run its course.
We'll see. |

Your banishment from "the site that keeps on giving" will be largely responsible for that I'd've thought. |

| There's no way to test that theory.
Which is quite ironic, when you think about it. |

| All done John, not sure how I originally missed it, whether anything useful comes out of it is open to debate, however I'd sooner be in a position of completing this or any other Argyle survey, rather than being in a position of "wish I could have" |

Your banishment from "the site that keeps on giving" will be largely responsible for that I'd've thought. The site that keeps on giving didn't give the survey it's own thread, instead choose to hide the announcement (because it was indeed announced on the club website as well as other sites) within the 'June news, rumours etc section, that gave a day by day summary of the news coming out from home park. That way they can say 'well it was on our site' even though we all know that their petty falling out with Mr Lloyd over 'Freechat' is the real reason behind why there wasn't a separate thread foe the close season survey. |

| I'm surprised Pisspotty hasn't done its own survey. |

| I'm not. It doesn't need to. Influence has already been acquired, and in any case, it doesn't believe in the whole idea. It believes in handed down wisdom, not handed up. |

| I'm reminded of the old adage that barristers in court should never ask a question that they do not know the answer to in advance here. |
