We didn't really need to. Solid. That's what we were. Dominant. That's another word for it. We never gave 'em a squeak. Basically this was a 24 carat version of what we have come to expect. When we don't have the ball we sat off and allowed them to play in front of us where they could no harm but when they tried to find a way through they were easily snuffed out. With the ball we weren't exactly gung ho but more measured, composed, professional and patient. Barely a misplaced pass, always looking to be positive, probing. We more or less controlled the game totally from start to finish, waited for the chances to come and slotted 'em with aplomb when they did. Difficult to pick a MotM because everybody did their jobs but the new boys, particularly offensively, definitely added with their 2 goals and when you can bring on players with some pace like Slew and Jervis against tiring legs then we're always going to finish strongly. And we did. This was a proper masterclass given by a team that looked easily strong enough to waltz its way to promotion. But lots of misdirected long ball? Hopeful lobs into the box from anywhere? Aimless "work their 'keeper" type of stuff? All noticeably absent. This was a proper dismantling job. We just ripped 'em to pieces. |

- Well what an enjoyable day that was.
Adams not being hamstrung in the 2017 January transfer market compared to twelve months previous is showing itself to be majorly significant. Sarcevic's showing last week and now a majestic number 9 display from Taylor coupled with sublime finishing and assists from Kennedy are all proving majorly significant.
We were really good today, and no mistake. Carey controlled midfield, ably assisted by Fox. Careys ball for Kennedy, even watching thru my significant beer goggles, was sublime.
I was quite shocked how little Exeter offered. The divisions form team but a good opening five minutes and an effort against the bar when 2 down was all that I recall of serious note.
If we fcuk things up from here it really will be a catastrophe.
Goodnight Sturtz, old chum.
Just watched the highlights, and those through balls were sublime, and i'm almost 1 year sober! The new players had added a different dimension to the team. And it makes our bench look stronger too. Did I read it correctly that Spencer was on the bench yesterday? Surely this must be our year to leave this dogshit division behind once and for all. |

| Frank, that just about sounds the most positive report I've heard about future prospects under Adams. If only he had been allowed to strengthen last January. Interesting take on the falling off their men thing. The next hurdle for Adams to climb is when the club are allowed by Brent to negotiate next year's contracts. Surely within a month, promotion will be almost nailed on. Last year showed what can happen when players feel hard done by and insecure. Always important to hit the ground running in a new division with a squad that know each other's game, have a rhythm and are full of confidence. It's at such times that the short contract thing comes back to bite you. Sooner or later if you want to build a successful team/club, you just have to offer longer contracts to the core players. |

| DA did what a good manager should do. On this occasion he clearly did his homework on Exeter and applied exactly the right tactics accordingly. Very good win against a side that were favourites for this one.
Still a VERY long way to go this season though. Still plenty of time for injuries and suspensions and a repeat of last season's debacle. Or to do a Carlisle.

| One has to say that was a top day out on the piss. Good to meet many ATD'ers past and present in various hostelries. Block 14 is ours. The day got made perfect by one of my Exeter chums getting banged up in Charles Cross |

| ARGYLE’S memorable 3-0 over Exeter City was the result of a week’s worth of Derek Adams’ side working hard to ensure their superiority over their Devon Derby rivals shone through. Coming into their trip to Home Park, the Pilgrims’ adversaries up the A38 were the form side of Sky Bet League Two. On a twelve-game unbeaten run and gunning for the automatic promotion spots, the Grecians were expected by many to at least give Argyle a run for their money, but they struggled all afternoon to deal with one of the Greens’ finest performances of the season. Settling after an early flurry from the visitors, Argyle showed precision and class to open the scoring in the 14th minute. Cutting through the heart of Exeter, Jakub Sokolik’s pass and Graham Carey’s delightful through ball put Matty Kennedy in on goal, and the home debutant placed his shot past Christy Pym. A similarly precise move allowed another home debutant, Ryan Taylor, to open his account and double Argyle’s lead on the stroke of half-time, before substitute Jake Jervis put the icing on the cake in second half stoppage time – the perfect ending to a game that Derek’s side controlled almost throughout. “It was an accomplished performance from us today, from start to finish,” said Adams. “We looked a very good team today. We passed the ball well. We scored two very good goals and obviously the penalty kick as well, but over the 90 minutes, it was an excellent performance. “I thought at times today, we did look superior, and that’s important when you’re in a derby match.” Any murmurs of fatigue or jetlag after a trip Spain during the week for some warm weather training were quickly dispelled at the Theatre of Greens. In fact, the trip abroad appeared to do its job of perfectly preparing the Pilgrims physically for a second consecutive win – and clean sheet – against promotion contenders. “I’m delighted,” said Derek. “We had a very good week in Spain. The players came back and look refreshed, they looked fit; it was something we’d hoped for, and they’ve repaid us by having a really good performance on derby day. “It was a top-class day for us, coming back on Thursday and getting ourselves prepared. With the supporters just having a derby match and winning that, it’s important. “We’re scoring goals, we’ve kept two clean sheets and played against teams that were so-called in-form, and come away with six points.” Read more at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] |

| Sjefke van Beneden and the Belgian Greens. They came, they saw and they fell in love with Argyle and the Green Army The 10 hour journey back to Gent is about to start but what a weekend for the growing number of Belgian Greens. Thanks to everyone who came and spoke with us at the Fans Fest and in the ground, together with those who bought us drinks and swapped scarves. There will be a few AA Gent scarves at Home Park now. The boys are already planning their next trip here and we might need a coach next time. A warm welcome also awaits any Janners coming to watch AA Gent

He's deffo added more timber. Even walking looked a struggle, let alone attempting to break into a sprint. He just doesn't look like a footballer any more.

Could have come from the "in excess of £100K" Brent PR nonsense that isn't actually saying anything. Easy meat. Anybody out there prepared to talk about the actual tactics or not, or is there some three line whip ? Honestly, just get yourself along to the games , you'll see the tactics for yourself. |
