| Crewe Alexandra v Plymouth Argyle Man in the middle NIGEL MILLER Games 14 YELLOWS 25 REDS 4
(He ref us Blackpool 0 - 1 Plymouth 3 yellows 1 red)
Assisted by Paul Hobday and Alf Greenwood
Fourth Official Jonathan Hunt CREWE NEWSSteve Davis wants his side to step-up to the challenge against runaway leaders Plymouth. Crewe Alexandra boss Steve Davis says that this weekend’s clash with league leaders Plymouth Argyle will be a great marker for his team. Although we won’t necessary be at full strength due to the injuries to strikers Ryan Lowe and Chris Dagnall, the Alex boss wants to try to end the Pilgrims impressive 13 game unbeaten run in League Two. Davis has been impressed by the start made by Derek Adams’ side this season and he wants his Crewe team to make home advantage count as we try and retain our position in the play-off places. Ahead of our intriguing home game, Steve said: “Plymouth have had a fantastic start to the season and they have a good points lead at the top of the league. They have been the most consistent side in the league and have a successful shape and system. “They are solid and organised. They have good experience in the squad and good movement upfront where their front four rotate. They have two midfield sitters that allow the full-backs to get forward and they play some good patterns in the final third. We know they will be a good side and they will be looking to keep their run going. “We have only lost three games ourselves. We have drawn too many, while a team like Plymouth has won those narrow games. It is a top half game and we want the points to cement our place in the top places. We don’t want to be dipping in and out. We want the stability of being in there and the only way you do that is by winning matches. He added: “It will be a good challenge for us and a good game. There should be a good atmosphere and as a player you enjoy games like these, a chance to test yourself against the team at the top of the league and at home.” Right Back Ollie Turton would be prepared to play through the pain barrier if needs be, his 90 matches sadly came to an end against Chesterfield on Tuesday evening due to injury. Youngster Perry NG stepped into the side and started his second senior game for the club in our Cheackatrade Trophy defeat on Tuesday night Crewe ended a seven game winless run with three points, a clean sheet, and a return to the top seven with a win at Leyton Orient two weeks ago. But since then, ahead of Saturday visit of the league leaders, Crewe have lost both frontline strikers Chris Dagnall and Ryan Lowe to injury, as well as being dumped out of the Checkatrade Trophy and facing yet another game after drawing their FA Cup first round tie at Cheltenham. One to watchTHE 20-year-old loan signing from Chelsea is a pacy winger who can also play as a central striker. ARGYLE NEWSStriker Paul-Arnold Garita and midfielder Oscar Threlkeld will not be fit for Saturday. D A said they have been doing light training and have been with the rest of the team on match days and doing the warm ups. They will both start to take part in full contact training this coming Monday. Osborne made his first appearance for the Pilgrims this season coming off the bench on Tuesday and had 40mins of play. Full backs Gary Miller and Ben Purrington are expected to be available. David Fox returns to one of his former club. Special ball for all League one and two gamesThe Mitre balls are each branded with The Royal British Legion's iconic Poppy logo. Limited edition matchballs are to be used in League One and League Two this weekend, including Plymouth Argyle's away game against Crewe Alexandra, in a mark of respect for the fallen. Will Freathy be on a roll? 2- 1 to Argyle for me (Info and quotes taken from various websites) |

Freathy couldn't you just vary it a bit, like 2-1 or a 3-1, or maybe a 1-0 loss. |

Freathys like the Exeter fan who made a killing on betting on every game since 2008 thst shitty would win 4 - 1, maybe he has a bet on that argo will lose every game for the next eight years two nil. However I have a strong gut feeling that we will slip up today. COYG |

Edit....2-0 f/t Ideal Interesting result, looks like Westley could be imposing his brand of results-getting football on them, could make the cup tie a tricky one presuming they get through. |

| Another great win on the road, can't knock DA and the squad for what they have achieved so far.If ever the real value [not necessarily in bankable cash terms] of a match winner like Carey was emphasised it was today-hope the powers that be are noting it and coming to the conclusion that money received can represent a false economy in the long term. |

| Injuries and January sales aside I'm now getting quite moist at the prospect of finally getting out of this shit league. If Carey is to go I just hope it's for top dollar and early enough to buy a replacement. Yeah yeah, I know... |
